유튜브 환경에서 초등학생의 미술 작품 제작에 대한 사례연구 (A Case Study on the Creation of Art Works by Elementary School Students in the YouTube Environment)

초록

본 연구는 정기적으로 창작과 관련한 유튜브를 시청한 경험이 초등학생의 미술 작품제작에 어떤 영향을 미치는지 탐구하는데 목적이 있다. 본 연구문제의 하위 질문으로첫째, ‘초등학생의 창작 관련 유튜브 시청과 작품 제작은 어떻게 이루어지는가?’, 둘째, ‘초등학생의 창작이 실행되기 위한 조건과 환경은 무엇인가?’를 하위 질문으로 설정하였다. 이를 위해 정기적으로 창작 관련 유튜브를 시청한 초등학생 3명을 찾아 사례연구를 시행하였다. 사례 내 분석은 개별 사례의 특성을 살려 서술하였으며, 사례 간 분석에서는 사례 간 공통점을 찾아 6가지 주제어를 선정하였다. 이를 토대로 하여 첫 번째하위 질문인 작품 제작이 어떻게 이루어지는가에 대해 다음의 세 단계로 답하였다. 첫번째 단계는 초등학생인 연구 참여자들은 창작 관련 유튜브를 찾아내는 활동으로 작품제작을 하는 것으로 앞서 찾은 ‘동영상 자체에 대한 흥미’라는 주제어와 연관된다. 두번째 단계는 선택한 동영상을 시청하며 기존의 경험 지식들과 상호 연계하여 탐색하는단계이다. 이는 ‘영상과 창작 활동의 유기적 연결’이라는 주제어와 연결된다. 마지막으로 재료와 지식을 활용하여 직접적으로 창작하는 활동으로서 이는 연구 참여자들이 ‘자기 주도적 창작’을 하는 과정이다. 두 번째 하위 질문인 작품 제작이 이루어지는 조건과 환경이 무엇인가에 대해 살펴보면 첫째, ‘재료와 도구의 적절한 지원’이다. 연구 참여자들이 다양한 재료를 가지고 있으며 도구의 사용에 대하여 능숙한 사용법을 알고있는 경우에 실제로 미술 작품 제작이 이루어졌다. 둘째, ‘시간과 공간의 적절한 활용’ 이다. 연구 참여자들은 모두 미술 작품 제작에 필요한 충분한 시간과 공간을 확보하고있었다. 마지막으로 ‘가족과 영향 주고받기’이다. 연구 참여자들은 주양육자 뿐만 아니라 그 외의 다른 가족 구성원들도 작품 창작을 매개로 하여 다양한 상호작용을 하고 그영향으로 작품을 창작하였다. 유튜브 환경에서 초등학생들은 새로운 방식으로 외부 세계의 확장을 경험하고 있다. 본 연구는 유튜브라는 새로운 환경에서 초등학생들의 미술작품 제작에 대해 그 의미를 발견하였다는 데에 그 의의를 가진다.

영어초록

The purpose of this study was to find out how watching YouTube about creation affects elementary school students’ art production. In order to solve this research problem, first, 'What is the relationship between elementary school students watching YouTube about creation and making art works?' and second, 'What are the conditions and environment for elementary school students' creativity?' were set as sub-questions. For this study, a case study was conducted by finding three elementary school students who regularly watched creation-related YouTube for more than 6 months. The analysis within the intra-case was described taking advantage of the characteristics of each individual case. In the inter-case analysis, six key words were selected to find commonalities between cases. Based on this, the first sub-question, 'How do elementary school students watch YouTube related to creation and produce works?', was answered in the following three steps. The first step is an activity in which study participants select YouTube videos based on their own criteria. This is related to the keyword ‘interest in the video itself’ found earlier. The second step is to watch the video of your choice, connect it with your own experience, and explore it in correlation with your existing knowledge. This is connected with the keyword ‘organic connection between video and creative activity’. Lastly, it is an activity to create directly using materials and knowledge, which can be referred to as the overall integration stage. This is connected with the process of ‘self-directed creation’ by the research participants. The second sub-question is ‘what are the conditions and environment for the potential of elementary school students to actually be realized’. To answer this, the first is ‘appropriate support of materials and tools’. Artworks were actually made when the study participants had a variety of materials that could be created at home, and they knew how to use the tools proficiently. The second is ‘appropriate use of time and space’. All of the study participants had enough time and space to create art works. Lastly, it is ‘exchanging influence with family’. Among the study participants, the mother, who was the main caregiver, didn’t only exercise the most decisive influence in the family but other family members were also involved in various interactions through the creation of works as a medium and creating works through the influence. In the YouTube environment, elementary school students are experiencing the expansion of the outside world in a new way. This study has its significance in that it found the meaning of art work by elementary school students in a new environment, YouTube.
