국립개방형수목원의 문화예술공연 현황연구 (A Study on the State of Culture and Arts Performance in the National Open Arboretum)

초록

자연환경과 인류문화의 상호관계를 연구하는 문화생태학적 관점에서 볼 때, 자연과 인간은 서로 중요한 관계를맺고 있으며 상호작용을 한다. 수목원은 도시화와 산업화로 인해 피로감을 느끼는 인간에게 중요한 대체자연이 될수 있으며 수목원에서의 휴양 및 여가활동은 인간에게 심리적, 정서적 안정감을 준다. 이러한 자연환경에서 문화예술공연을 관람하는 것은 여가활동의 한 방법으로서 인간의 삶의 만족도를 높여주고, 안녕감을 주며 개인의 행복에긍정적인 역할을 한다. 이러한 이유로 국내외 수목원들은 문화예술공연을 제공하여 인간의 정서와 심리를 건강하게하고, 여가 공간으로서 기능을 향상하고자 노력하고 있다. 본 연구는 산림청의 ‘숲속문화공연’을 사례로 하여 국립개방형수목원의 문화예술공연 현황을 알아보는 데 목적을 둔다. 국립개방형수목원의 문화예술공연 사례연구에 앞서문화생태학적 관점에서 자연과 인간과의 관계, 수목원의 개념과 기능을 알아보았으며 영국의 큐 왕립식물원, 싱가포르의 싱가포르 식물원의 사례조사를 통해 수목원에서의 문화예술공연의 국외 현황을 알아보았다. 이를 통해 흡인력 있는 문화예술공연은 수목원의 방문객 증가에 도움을 주며 수목원에서의 문화예술공연이 도시문화의 척도가 될수 있음을 확인하였다. 산림청의 ‘숲속문화공연’은 2017년 시작 후 현재까지 국립개방형수목원과 휴양림 등에서 진행되고 있으며 관람객들의 높은 관람만족도에도 불구하고 홍보 부족, 프로그램의 다양성 부족, 문화예술공연의 중요성에 대한 인식 부족 등의 문제로 수목원에 요구되는 휴양 및 여가선용에는 크게 기능하지 못하고 있는듯하다.
이러한 문제를 해결하기 위해 산림청과 문화예술기관 및 운영기관들은 국립개방형수목원의 문화예술공연에 더 많은 관심을 기울여야 한다. 그리고 산림청과 문화예술공연 운영기관은 해외 유명 수목원들의 사례들처럼 다양하고흡인력 있는 공연을 기획하여, 공연을 보기 위해 수목원을 찾는 사람이 많아질 수 있도록 노력해야 한다. 정부와국립개방형수목원이 위치한 지방자체단체, 관련 기업들은 적극적 재정지원과 후원 등을 통해 홍보의 문제를 해결하고 수목원에서의 문화예술공연의 즁요성을 인식하여 전문성 있는 위탁운영기관을 선정할 필요가 있다. ‘숲속문화공연’의 적극적 홍보와 문화예술공연 프로그램의 다양화, 문화예술공연 필요성에 대한 인식강화는 ‘숲속문화공연’의관람객과 수목원 방문객 증가에 도움이 될 것이다. 이러한 문화예술공연을 통한 방문객의 증가는 수목원의 활성화로 이어질 것이며 수목원의 활성화는 국립수목원의 궁극적 목표인 인간과의 조화로운 성장을 통한 자연환경의 보존과 관리, 여가 선용 공간으로의 기능에 긍정적 역할을 할 것이다. 그리고 자연과 인간이 공존할 수 있는 지속 가능한 국립개방형수목원의 가치확산에도 도움이 될 것이다.

영어초록

Considering the perspective of the cultural ecology that studies the correlation between natural environment and human culture, nature and human beings have an important relationship and interact each other. An arboretum can be an alternative nature for human beings feeling fatigue on urbanization and industrialization.
Recreation and leisure activities at an arboretum provides psychological, emotional sense of security. As viewing culture and art performances in such a natural environment is regarded as one of leisure activities, it increases the levels of life satisfaction, provides a sense of well-being, and plays a positive role in individual happiness. For this reasons, arboretums at home and abroad make humans’emotion and psychological stage healthy by providing culture and art performances and make an effort to improve the function of leisure space.
The purpose of this study is to examine the current situation of culture and art performances at national open arboretums after referring a case of ‘Forest Culture Performance’ by the Korea Forest Service. On the perspective of the cultural ecology, this study attempted to explore the relationship between nature and humans, the concept and function of arboretums before conducting case studies on culture and art performances by national open arboretums and to examine the abroad situations of culture and art performances through case studies on Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew, England and Singapore Botanic Gardens.
Based on the results, it was clear that popular culture and art performances helped increase the number of visitors to arboretums and culture and art performances in arboretums could be a measurement of urban culture. ‘Forest Culture Performance’ by the Korea Forest Service has been held in national open arboretums and recreational forests since 2017 and, however, they failed to meet the function of recreation and leisure aerobic activities required to arboretums because of the lack of promotion, variety of programs, recognition of the importance of culture and art performances, and etc. despite the high levels of viewers; satisfaction. In order to solve these issues, the Korea Forest Service, culture and art organizations should pay more attention to culture and art performances in national open arboretums. The Korean Forest Service and organizations for culture and art performances should make an effort to increase visitors who want to enjoy the performances in arboretums, providing various and attractive performances like the cases of abroad famous arboretums. The government, local governments where national open arboretums were located, and related companies should solve issues related to promotion through aggressive financial aid and support and select professional consignment management agencies by recognizing the importance of culture and art performances. It is believed that aggressive promotion for ‘Forest Culture Performance’, various programs for culture and art performances, and a great recognition of the necessity of culture and art performances will help increase audiences for ‘Forest Culture Performance’and visitors to arboretums. The increase of visitors through such culture and art performances would lead to the vitalization of arboretums and the vitalization of arboretums would play on positive roles in the function of leisure space and the reservation and management of natural environment through the ultimate goal known as the harmonious growth with human beings. In addition, it would help expand the value of national open arboretums that nature and human beings coexist together.
