사람다움을 추구하는 예식으로서의 ‘성찬’ 연구 (A study on ‘the Eucharist’ as a ritual that pursues Saramdaum)

초록

본 연구의 목적은 기독교에서 행하는 성찬예식을 통해 인격의 도야와 사람다움의 회복을 추구하는 것이다. 성찬은 예수그리스도의 살과 피를 의미하는 상징물인 빵(떡)과 포도주를 나누며 예수그리스도를 기억하고, 예수그리스도를 믿음으로 구원받은 그리스도인으로서의 소속과 책임을 강화하는 데 있다.
코로나 바이러스가 지속될 때 전염병 확산의 중심에 기독교, 특히 개신교가 서 있었다. 자신들의 종교적 행사를 사수한다는 명목하에 방역체계를 준수하지 않아 확진자를 양산하고 사회적 지탄을 받으며, 여러 문제를 야기했다. 이같은 이기성과 과오를 극복하기 위해서는 교회에 소속된 이들이 사람다움을 회복해야 한다. 내세(來世)를 중요시하며 현세(現世)를 등한시하거나 외면하는 것이 아닌, 내세를 소망하되, 현세에서 인간으로서 가져야 할 인격과 사람다움을 함양하고, 종교인으로서도 지켜야 할 책임과 의무를 감당해야 한다.
그렇다면 “어떻게 사람다움과 진정한 기독교인으로서의 회복을 도모할 수 있을까?” 본 논문은 기독교의 예식인 ‘성찬’을 고찰하며 의미들을 탐색하였다.
성찬은 다양한 함의를 지니고 있는데, 기독교의 전통과 유산은 ‘희생 제사’의 의미에 국한되어 왔다. 이는 교회와 그리스도의 몸을 동일시하는 가톨릭의 관점에서 비롯된 ‘화체설’이 원인이다. 이후 가톨릭을 개혁하며 등장한 개신교의 개혁자들인 루터, 칼빈, 웨슬리 등이 화체설을 대체하는 다양한 성찬의 개념과 의미들을 주장하였다.
본고는 개신교의 다양한 성찬의 의미들을 탐구하고, 사람다움을 추구하는 성찬의 함의들을 추출하여, 사회적 공신력을 잃어가는 기독교의 회복을 모색하고자 한다.
사람다움을 추구하는 성찬예식의 기대효과는 구원자이신 예수그리스도를 기억하는 일과 더불어 세상에 인간의 몸으로 성육신하신 예수그리스도의 삶을 탐구하고 구현하는 데 있다. 따라서 성찬예식을 자주 거행하고 참여하면서 사랑과 희생, 공동체 안에서의 교제를 통해 인격과 사람다움의 의미를 함양하고 실천할 것을 제안한다.

영어초록

The purpose of this study is to pursue the cultivation of character and the restoration of Saramdaum through the Holy Communion service in Christianity. The purpose of the Holy Communion is to remember Jesus Christ by sharing bread and wine, which are symbols of the body and blood of Jesus Christ, and to strengthen the sense of belonging and responsibility as Christians who have been saved through faith in Jesus Christ.
As the covid-19 virus continued, Christianity, especially Protestantism, was at the center of the spread of the epidemic. In the name of protecting their religious events, they failed to comply with the quarantine system, resulting in a large number of confirmed cases, receiving social criticism, and causing problems. In order to overcome such selfishness and mistakes, those who belong to the church must restore their Saramdaum. Rather than placing importance on the afterlife and neglecting or ignoring the present life, one must hope for the afterlife, but must cultivate the character and Saramdaum that a human should have in this life, and take on the responsibilities and duties that must be maintained as a religious person.
So, “How can we seek restoration as a human being and as a true Christian?” This paper examines the Christian ritual of ‘the Eucharist’ and explores its meaning from various angles.
The Eucharist has various implications, but Christian tradition and heritage have been limited to the meaning of ‘sacrifice.’ This is the ‘transubstantiation theory’ that originates from the Catholic perspective that identifies the church and the body of Christ. Afterwards, Protestant reformers such as Luther, Calvin, and Wesley, who emerged while reforming Catholicism, argued for various concepts and meanings of the Eucharist that replaced the theory of transubstantiation This study explores the various meanings of the Holy Communion in Protestantism, extracts the implications of the Holy Communion in pursuit of Saramdaum, and seeks to restore Christianity, which is losing social credibility.
The expected effect of the Holy Communion service, which pursues Saramdaum, is to remember Jesus Christ, the one God and savior, as well as to explore and embody the life of Jesus Christ, who was incarnated as a human in the world. Therefore, we suggest that we frequently celebrate and participate in the Eucharist and cultivate and practice the meaning of character and Saramdaum through love, sacrifice, and fellowship within the community.
