궁중 우희(優戲)의 소통 맥락과 풍자성 -세조～연산군 연간을 중심으로- (U-hui’s communication context and satire -Focusing on the period between Sejo and Yeonsan-gun-)

초록

본고는 조선 세조 대에서 연산군 대의 궁중 우희 작품을 검토하여, 해당 우희에서 풍자성이 실현되는 구체적인 맥락을 추론하였다.
<당상관놀이>는 세조 대 이후 예종 대까지 이어진 훈구공신 세력의 성장과 관직 독점으로 인한 문제가 제기된 사회문화적 맥락이 의미 형성에 주요하게 작용한다. 또한 <당상관놀이>의 공연 맥락에서 관객은 조소를 표현함으로써 의사소통 과정에 참여한다. 이후 사관이 훈구공신에 대해 비판적인 주장을 뒷받침하기 위해 <당상관놀이>를 선택하는 행위 역시 의사소통 과정에 참여하여 풍자적 의미를 형성하는 것으로 볼 수 있었다.
연산군 대의 공결과 공길의 우희는 성종 대 이후 성장한 삼사의 언간 기능과 이를 억제하고자하는 왕권의 대립이라는 사회문화적 맥락에서 의미를 이해할 수 있다. 사화와 익명서 사건을 거치면서 언간의 언론 기능이 제한된 상황에서 연행된 두 우희는 언관들이 간언하는 장면을 극으로 연출한 것이다. 이 우희들은 극 중 맥락 내에 청자를 두지 않고, 신하가 왕에게 간언하는 장면을 그대로 극으로 재현하였다. 이를 통해 신하가 임금에게 직접 간언하는 방식으로 신하들의 목소리를 이해할 수 있다.
전통 연희에서 풍자는 주로 피지배 계층의 반봉건 의식을 반영하는 것으로 이해된다. 가면극, 판소리 등의 극 갈래에서도 이와 유사하다. 그러나 우희의 풍자성은 그 외에 왕권과 신권 사이에서 정치적 역할을 함으로써 구현되는 바가 있었다. 본고에서는 이 가운데 신하들이 언로로 활용한 우희로 범위를 한정하여, 풍자를 통해 신하들의 목소리가 우희의 의사소통 과정에 반영되었을 가능성을 살핀 것이다.

This article attempted to infer the specific context in which satire is realized in the U-hui by reviewing the works of King Yeonsangun’s court performance in King Sejo of the court during the Joseon Dynasty.
In <Dangsanggwannori>, the socio-cultural context in which the problems caused by the monopoly of government office and the growth of the Hungu contribution forces from the King Sejo to the Yejong period are instrumental in the formation of meaning. Additionally, in the context of the performance of <Dangsanggwannori>, the audience participates in the communication process by expressing ridicule. Since then, it has been seen that the act of choosing <Dangsanggwannori> by the officer to support the critical argument about the contribution of the discipline also participates in the communication process to form meaning.
Through the performances of Gonggyeol and Gonggil in Yeonsangun, we can understand the meaning of the confrontation between the sacrificial function of Samsa, who grew up after Seongjong, and the power of the king to suppress it in the socio-cultural context. The two U-hui who were arrested while the media functions of the words were limited through the case of a private painting and anonymous book were used to produce a scene in which the speakers to be admonished. These U-hui did not place a celadon in the context of one play but reproduced the scene in which the servant admonished the king as it was. Therefore, the effect of adjusting so that the subjects in the context of the play and the king in the context of the performance belong to the same context is shown. Through this, the voices of the subjects can be understood in a way in which the subjects directly admonish the king.
In traditional performances, satire is mainly understood to reflect the anti-feudal consciousness of the governed. This is similar in the theater, such as with masquerade and Pansori. However, U-hui's satire was realized by playing a political role between the royal and the divine powers. In this article, the scope of the play used by the subjects in words was limited, and the possibility that the voices of the subjects were reflected in the communication process of the play was examined through satire.
