텍스트마이닝을 활용한 국내⋅외 에듀테크의 연구동향 분석 (Analyzing research trends in domestic and international ‘Edtech’ using text mining)

초록

목적 본 연구는 국내외 에듀테크 관련 논문을 분석하여 연구자들이 주목한 연구주제가 무엇인지, 국내외 연구동향을 비교 분석하였다.
방법 이를 위하여 국내 논문은 한국학술지인용색인(KCI)에서 에듀테크를 키워드로 검색하였고, 국외 논문은 Scopus에서 Edutech를 키워드로 검색하여 학술논문을 수집하였다. 국내 368편, 국외 279편이 수집되었으며 수집된 자료는 제목, 키워드, 초록 등을 중심으로 정제하였다. 저자키워드를 중심으로 TF와 TF-IDF 분석하였고, 초록을 중심으로 LDA 토픽모델링을 실행한 후 LDAvis를 통해 시각화하였다.
결과 첫째, TF와 TF-IDF 결과, 국내⋅외 연구 저자들이 꼽은 공통 저자키워드는 ‘디지털(digital)’, ‘온라인(online)’, ‘인공지능(AI)’, ‘코로나19(covid-19)’, 그리고 ‘데이터/분석(data)’이 있었다. 둘째, 국내 연구자들은 ‘인공지능’, ‘메타버스’, ‘가상현실’과 같은 구체적인 기술들을 주목하였던 반면 국외 연구자들은 ‘기술(technology)’과 같은 포괄적인 개념에 주목하였다. 셋째, 토픽모델링 결과, 국내 연구에서는 ‘인공지능과 데이터’, ‘미래교육과 에듀테크’, ‘에듀테크의 활용과 연구’, ‘코로나 전후 수업 변화’에 대한 토픽들이, 국외 연구에서는 ‘에듀테크의 변화와 연구’, ‘학생중심의 학습과 설계’, ‘데이터와 기술을 활용한 교육혁신’, ‘비즈니스 관점의 에듀테크’로 토픽들이 도출되었다.
결론 저자키워드의 TF, TF-IDF와 토픽모델링 분석 결과, 국내⋅외 연구물의 차이보다는 공통적인 부분과 맥락들이 두드러졌다. 또한 이 결과들은 Educational Technology을 주제로 트렌드와 동향을 분석하였던 선행연구와 유사하였다. 에듀테크 관련 연구는 글로벌 교육현장에서 집중되는 분야로 학계의 연구 동향만이 아니며 지속적으로 온라인과 디지털은 강조되는 주제였다. 향후 에듀테크에 관련한 연구는 시장, 산업 등을 주제로, 국가별 비교 분석하는 다양한 연구가 이루어질 필요가 있다.

영어초록

Objectives This study analyzed domestic and foreign ‘edtech’ related papers to find out what research topics researchers have been focusing on and to compare domestic and foreign research trends.
Methods For this purpose, domestic papers were collected by searching for Edtech as a keyword in the Korea Citation Index (KCI), and international papers were collected by searching for Edtech as a keyword in Scopus. A total of 368 domestic and 279 international articles were collected, and the collected data was refined by zooming on titles, keywords, and abstracts. TF and TF-IDF were analyzed based on author keywords, and LDA topic modeling was performed based on abstracts, and visualized through LDAvis.
Results First, the TF and TF-IDF results showed that the common author keywords selected by the authors of domestic and foreign studies were ‘digital’, ‘online’, ‘AI’, ‘COVID-19’, and ‘data’. Second, specific technologies such as ‘AI’, ‘metaverse’, and ‘virtual reality’ were the focus of domestic studies, while foreign studies focused on the broader concept of ‘technology’. Third, the topic modeling resulted in the topics of ‘artificial intelligence and data’, ‘future education and edtech’, ‘utilization and research of edtech’, and ‘changes in teaching before and after COVID’ in domestic studies, and ‘changes and research of edtech’, ‘student-centered learning and design’, ‘educational innovation using data and technology’, and ‘edtech from a business perspective’ in international studies.
Conclusions The TF, TF-IDF, and topic modeling analysis of author keywords showed more similarities and contexts between domestic and international studies than differences. These results were similar to previous studies such as Kimmons et al. (2021), Kimmons, & Rosenberg (2022), and Allman (2023), which analyzed trends and trends in educational technology. The research on edtech is not only focused on academic research trends, but online and digital have been consistently emphasized in the global education scene. Future research on edtech needs to be conducted on various topics such as markets, industries, and comparative analysis by country.
