초기 청소년의 불안정 애착, 역기능적 태도, 사회적 지지와 우울 간의 구조적 관계 (The Structural Relationship among Early Adolescents’ Insecure Attachment, Dysfunctional Attitude, Social Support and Depression)

초록

본 연구는 초기 청소년의 불안정 애착(불안애착, 회피애착), 역기능적 태도, 사회적 지지와 우울(의존적 우울, 자기비판적 우울) 간의 구조적 관계를 분석하기 위한 목적으로 수행되었다. 연구를 위해 중학교 1, 2학년 남녀학생 589명을 대상으로 친밀관계 경험 척도, 역기능적 태도 척도, 사회적 지지 척도, 우울 경험 질문지를 실시하여 자료를 수집하였다. 의존적 우울과 자기비판적 우울을 설명하는 각각의 연구모형을 설정한 후, 구조방정식 모형을 이용해 분석하였다. 연구결과는 다음과 같았다. 첫째, 초기 청소년의 불안애착과 회피애착은 역기능적 태도를 통하여 의존적 우울에 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 회피애착은 사회적 지지를 통하여 의존적 우울에 영향을 미쳤으나, 불안애착과 의존적 우울의 관계에서 사회적 지지는 매개효과를 나타내지 않았다. 둘째, 초기 청소년의 불안애착과 회피애착은 역기능적 태도를 통하여 자기비판적 우울에 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 반면, 불안애착, 회피애착과 자기비판적 우울의 관계에서 사회적 지지는 매개효과를 나타내지 않았다. 셋째, 초기 청소년의 불안애착은 의존적 우울과 자기비판적 우울에 직접 영향을 미쳤으나, 회피애착은 직접 영향을 미치지 않았다. 이러한 결과는 초기 청소년의 의존적 우울과 자기비판적 우울을 예방하고 효과적으로 개입하기 위하여 애착의 차원에 따라 차별적으로 접근하여야 하고, 인지적 요소와 대인관계적 요소를 함께 고려해야 함을 시사한다. 마지막으로 본 연구의 연구결과를 바탕으로 시사점 및 후속연구에 대한 제언을 논하였다.

영어초록

This study was conducted to examine the structural relationship among early adolescents’ insecure attachment (i.e. anxious and avoidant attachment), dysfunctional attitude, social support and depression (i.e. dependent and self-critical depression). A total of 589 middle school students participated in the present study. The measures included the Experiences in Close Relationship Scale-R, the Dysfunctional Attitude Scale, the Perceived Social Support Measures, and the Depression Experiences Questionnaire for Adolescents. Hypothesized structural models were tested, respectively for dependent depression and self-critical depression. Results of the study were as follows: First, early adolescents’ anxious and avoidant attachment had an indirect effect on dependent depression through dysfunctional attitude. While social support mediated the relationship between avoidant attachment and dependent depression, it did not mediate the relationship between anxious attachment and dependent depression. Second, while early adolescents’ anxious and avoidant attachment had an indirect effect on self-critical depression through dysfunctional attitude, social support did not mediate the relationship between insecure attachment and self-critical depression. Third, early adolescents’ anxious attachment directly influenced both dependant depression and self-critical depression. Avoidant attachment did not have a direct effect on any type. These findings indicate that different approaches are necessary depending on the attachment dimension in order to prevent early adolescents’ dependant and self-critical depression. It is also indicated that cognitive factors should be considered together with the interpersonal elements to facilitate effective intervention for depression in early adolescents.
