일본 儒者의 『大學』 수용과 해석에 관하여 (About acceptance and interpretation 『University(大學)』 of Japanese Confucian scholar)

초록

본 논문은 『대학』을 일본 儒者들이 어떻게 수용하여 해석하였는가를 사상사적 관점에서 살펴본 것이다. 『대학』의 내용 중, ‘明明德’이 실천주체의 修身에 관여하는 범주라면, ‘親(新)民’은 실천주체의 사회참여에 관한 범주라고 할 수 있다. 따라서 일본 儒者들의 ‘明明德’과 ‘親民’에 관한 해석을 살펴보면, 그들의 수양론과 실천론의 특색을 드러낼 수 있다.
우선 일본의 근세유학 형성기에 해당하는 시기의 儒者로서 후지와라 세이카(藤原惺窩)의 『대학』 수용과 그 해석의 특색을 살펴보았다. 그는 주희의 『대학장구』적 해석을 수용하면서도, 명말 임조은(林兆恩)의 해석을 수용하여 주희의 해석에 異議를 제기하고, 나아가 임조은의 해석으로도 만족하지 못하는 부분에 대해서는 자신만의 독특한 해석을 제시하고 있다. 이어서 근세 양명학 형성시기의 나카에 도주(中江藤樹)의 『대학』 해석은 또 다른 특색을 보여준다. 만년이 되기 전까지 주자학에 심취하였던 도주는 주희의 해석을 바탕에 두고, 그 위에 왕수인의 해석을 수용하여 도주 나름의 심학을 이루었다. 특히 도주는 개인의 윤리적 실천에 주안점을 두고 있기 때문에, 사회개혁의 의지보다는 인간다운 인간, 참된 인간을 추구하는 내용상의 특색을 가지고 있다. 이러한 일본 유자의 『대학』 해석 자세는 오규 소라이(荻生徂徠)에 이르러 보다 논리적이고 합리적인 방법으로 주희에게 이의를 제기하게 된다. 그는 古文辭學이라는 문헌학적 해석 방법을 적극 활용하여 주희의 논리체계를 정면에서 반박하고, 새로운 해석을 창출한다. 이 러한 독창적 경학연구는 조선의 정약용도 참조할 정도의 수준이었다.
일본 儒者들은 각자의 관심과 해결방법을 제시하기 위하여 다양한 『대학』 해석 중 취사선택하여 자신들의 해석으로 삼았다. 그런 지적환경에서 개성적 해석이 나올 수 있었는데, 이렇게 되기까지 주자학이든 양명학이든 일본근세사회에서는 교조화 되지 않았다는 점을 주목할 필요가 있다.

영어초록

This is a paper which about how did Japanese Confucian scholar accommodate and interpret 『University』 which was independent with one of the Four Chinese Classics (四書) by Juxi(朱熹) in their thought historians view. In content of 『University』, if 'myeongmyeongdeok(明明德)' is involved in moral training of doer, ' 親民' can be defined as social participationcategory of doer. Therefore, you can get to know about characteristic of the theory of moral culture and the theory of practice, if you look into interpretation regarding 'myeongmyeongdeok' and '親民' of Japanese Confucian scholar.
First of all, about characteristic of accept and interpret 『University』 of Fujiwara-seika(藤原惺窩). He is Confucian scholar who corresponded in the Japanese modern times Neo-Confucianism formative period. He was accepted about interpretation of 『College gear(大學章句)』 of Juxi however, he objected to interpretation of Juxi with accept of interpretation of myeongmal Lin Zhaoen(林兆恩). Furthermore, he suggested a unique interpretation in his own way if he did not satisfy with interpretaion of Lin Zhaoen. This is one of characteristic of Japanese Confucianism which objected to Juxi from Neo-Confucianism acceptance stage and, the way that is assemble interpretation in their own way with selected diversity construe.
Second, about characteristic of accept and interpret 『University』 of Nakaetoujyu(中江藤樹). He is a person when the modern times philosophy of Wang ShouRen(王守仁) formation times. He constitute a Study of maind(心學) characteristic of him. He is based on interpretation of Juxi with accept Wang ShouRen's construe. In especial, he focus on the personal's ethical practice so, he want to show real hunam and true human than social reform will.
Last, Japanese Confucian scholar's construe of 『University』 has reached Ogyū Sorai(荻生徂徠) who made a use of philological analysis system which call Gobunjigaku(古文辭學) and took exception to a logical system of Juxi. Chinese classics of Japan's stage has reached a creative level even JeongYakYong(丁若鏞) of the Joseon Dynasty refer to it.
Japanese Confucian scholar are selected of diversity interpretation of 『University』, and made of their own construe to suggest present each interest and solution. That even if what this individualistic interpretation was able to flow from was the Neo-Confucianism or philosophy of WangShouRen, there was the scientific background that did not become doctrinality in Japanese modern history times. When lodge a protest against about interpretation of 『University』 start from Neo-Confucianism formative period to Ogyū Sorai, then it originate the zenith.
