암 관련 뉴스 프레임이 인지적,정서적 태도와 예방행동의도에 미치는 영향 연구 (A Study of the Effects of CancerᐨRelated News Frames on Cognitive Attitude, Emotional Attitude, and Preventive Behavioral Intention)

초록

본 연구는 암 관련 뉴스 기사가 이용자들의 인지적 · 정서적 태도와 예방행동의도에 어떤 영향을 미치는지에 대한 연구다. 본 연구의 이론적 배경은 해석 해석수준이론(Construal Level Theory) 이다. 독립변인은 프레임(frame) 유형, 해석수준(howᐨwhy)유형, 시간적 거리감(when)이다. 암 관련 뉴스 프레임은 대표적이면서 대립적인 사회 프레임과 개인 프레임으로 나뉘어졌다. 나머지 독립변인은 연구에 관한 이론적 배경인 심리적 거리감에 따라 해석수준이 적용되었다. 종속변인 은 인지적 태도, 정서적 태도, 예방행동의도다. 본 연구는 2×2×2 요인 실험 설계를 하였으며 온라 인 실험 연구 방법을 택하였다. 9개의 실험 집단 900명의 데이터를 분석에 사용하였다. 연구 결과 뉴스 프레임 유형은 사회ᐨ개인 프레임에 따라 인지적 · 정서적 태도에만 영향을 미치고 행동의도 에는 영향을 미치지 않았다. 특히 사회 프레임은 인지적 태도에, 개인적 프레임은 정서적 태도에 큰 영향을 미쳤다. 해석수준 메시지는 정서적 태도에만 영향을 미치고 있었으며, 구체적인 맥락을 설명하는 하위 메시지의 경우, 개인적인 감정과 공감과 관련된 정서적 태도에 더 큰 영향을 미치는 것으로 드러났다. 시간적 거리의 경우, 가까운 시간적 거리가 제공되었을 때 인지적 · 정서적 태도 와 예방행동의도가 모두 높게 나타났다. 또한 각 변인의 이원 상호작용 효과와 삼원 상호작용 효과 가 발견되었다. 특히 ‘개인 프레임­하위 해석수준(how)­가까운 거리’에서 정서적 태도와 예방행 동의도가 가장 높게 나타났다. 예방행동의도의 경우에는 시간적 거리가 먼 경우에는 사회 프레임 과 상위 해석수준(why) 조건이 주어졌을 때에도 예방행동이 높게 나타나, 변인의 적합도(fit)의 중 요성을 증명하였다. 본 연구는 기사의 구성 요인과 해석수준이 연결될 수 있는 부분을 찾아냈다는 점에서 의의가 있다.

영어초록

This study originated from the interest in elucidating the effects of cancerᐨrelated news articles on users’ cognitive and emotional attitudes and preventive behavioral intention. The independent variables were the frame type, construal level (howᐨ why) type, temporal distance(when) type. Among cancerᐨrelated news frames, the representative and oppositive social and personal frames comprised the first independent variable type. The rest of the independent variables were selected primarily based on the Construal Level Theory (CLT) which posits that the construal level varies depending on the psychological distance. This study employed a 2×2×2 factorial experiment design and online experiment was conducted. The news frame type had an effect only on cognitive and emotional attitudes according to the societyᐨpersonal frame, and not on behavioral intention. The social frame had a particularly great effect on cognitive attitude and the personal frame on emotional attitude. The construal level message had an effect solely on emotional attitude. With regard to the subᐨmessage, which explains the detailed context, it was found to have a greater effect on emotional attitude, which is associated with personal emotion and empathy. With regard to temporal distance, cognitive and emotional attitudes and preventive behavioral intention were all high when the temporal distance was close. A 2ᐨway interaction effect and the 3ᐨway interaction effect was observed.In particular, the emotional attitude and preventive behavioral intention were highest in the “personal frameᐨlower construal level (how)ᐨclose distance.” Conversely, as for the preventive behavioral intention, the preventive behavior was high even in the condition of social frame and upper construal level (why) given that the temporal distance was far. Therefore, the importance of the variables’ goodness of fit was proven.
