무형문화재 전시연출 변화 특성 연구 - 국립무형유산원 전시관 리노베이션 전 ․ 후 사례 중심으로 - (A Study on the Characteristics of Transformation in the Exhibition Direction of Intangible Cultural Property -Focusing on Before and After Cases Related to the Exhibition Hall Renovation of the Nation)

초록

(연구배경 및 목적) 우리나라에서 문화재를 분류하는 기준으로 형태의 유·무에 따라 문화재를 나누기도 한다. 문화재 중 역사적·예술적·학술적 가치가 있는 것 중에 형태를 알 수 없는 문화적인 소산으로써의 기능을 지닌 사람이 지정대상인 것을 무형문화재라 한다. 무형문화유산을 관리하는 복합행정기관인 국립무형유산원에서 운영되고 있는 상설전시장의 사례 분석을 통해 무형문화재 전시 특성을 조사하였고, 리모델링에서 많은 요구사항들을 반영해야 함을 확인하였다. 이에 미흡한 부분에 대한 고찰과 적합한 전시기법 및 연출의 특성을 활용하는 방법에 관한 연구를 진행하였다. 본 연구는 국립무형유산원의 전시사례 변화의 특성을 살펴보고 유형의 문화재와 다른 무형문화재만의 차별화된 특성을 살릴 수 있는 전시 특성 요소를 찾아 기초자료로 활용하는데 그 목적이 있다. (연구방법) 연구의 범위는 국립무형유산원의 상설전시실의 전시연출을 분석하기 위하여 리모델링 이전과 이후의 상설전시의 시례들을 대상으로 한다. 연구 방법은 첫째, 무형문화재 정의와 유형에 대한 이론적 자료를 고찰한다. 둘째, 무형문화재 전시디자인 연출 선행논문을 바탕으로 전시 연출기법에 대한 방법을 조사한다. 셋째, 리노베이션 사업으로 변화된 상설 전시장의 사례를 통해 전시의 특성 조사를 통해 무형문화재 전시 방법을 탐구한다. 넷째, 분석 결과를 바탕으로 무형문화재를 전시하기 위한 전시연출의 방법 연구를 기초자료로 제시한다. (결과) 분석 결과, 첫째 리모델링 전은 내용적인 부분에서도 무형문화재가 가지는 주요한 특성 중에서 역사성, 독창성, 예술성에 관한 내용은 각 존마다 표현이 되어 있는 반면, 기술적가치, 학술적 보존가치, 전승성, 현장성, 지역성에 관한 내용은 없었다. 둘째, 리모델링 내용적인 부분에서는 모든 요소 들을 고르게 반영 및 표현하고 있어 문제점을 보완하려 했음을 알 수 있었다. 셋째, 연출 요소 분석에서는 리모델링 이전 유물, 패널, 모형, 일반영상은 있으나, 작동모형, 음향, 특수영상, 정보시스템, 상호작용 매체, 에듀테인먼트 요소들은 빠져 있었으며, 리모델링 이후에는 연출적인 모든 요소를 포함하고 있음을 확인하였다. (결론) 본 연구는 기존 전시커뮤니케이션의 한계성을 느끼고 리모델링을 통해 생동감있는 무형문화재를 연출하기 위하여 내용 및 연출 부분에서 시행되고 있는 다양한 방법들을 분석해보았다. 그 결과, 공간적 한계에 막혀 장인들이 직접 참여하거나 관람객과 직접 소통하는 현장성의 부재와 수많은 스토리텔링 들이 제대로 표현되지 못하고 있는 실정을 파악할 수 있었다. 추후 보완하기 위해 무형문화재 전시연출을 위한 기초자료로 본 연구가 활용되기를 기대해 본다.

영어초록

(Background and Purpose) As a criterion for classifying cultural properties in Korea, cultural properties are also divided according to their presence or absence of form. Among cultural properties, those that have historical, artistic, or academic value and whose function as cultural products is unknown are designated as intangible cultural properties. Through the case analysis of the permanent exhibition hall operated by the National Institute of Intangible Cultural Heritage, the characteristics of the exhibition of intangible cultural assets were examined, and it was confirmed that many requirements should be reflected in the remodeling. The purpose of this study is to examine the characteristics of changes in exhibition cases at the National Institute of Intangible Cultural Heritage and to find and use the characteristic elements of exhibitions that can make use of the differentiated characteristics of tangible cultural properties and other intangible cultural properties. (Method) The scope of the study is to analyze the exhibition production of the permanent exhibition room of the National Institute of Intangible Heritage and to analyze the examples of the permanent exhibition before and after the renovation. The research method first examines theoretical data on the definition and types of intangible cultural assets. Second, in the previous thesis on exhibition design and directing of intangible cultural assets, the methods of exhibition directing techniques are investigated. Third, through the permanent exhibition hall that has been transformed by the renovation, the methods for displaying intangible cultural assets by investigating the characteristics of the exhibition are explored. Fourth, the study on exhibition production methods to exhibit intangible cultural assets is presented as basic data. (Results) As a result of the analysis, among the main characteristics of intangible cultural properties before the first remodeling, historicity, originality, and artistry were expressed in each zone, while there was no content on technical value, academic preservation value, transmission, site, and locality. Second, in the content of the remodeling, all elements were reflected and expressed, and it was seen that they tried to compensate for the problems. Third, in the analysis of the directing elements, it was confirmed that there were artifacts, panels, models, and general images before the remodeling, but the operating models, sounds, special images, information systems, interactive media, and edutainment elements were missing, and all the elements of directing were included after the remodeling. (Conclusion) As a result, due to spatial limitations, it was possible to understand the lack of realism in which artisans directly participate or communicate directly with visitors and the fact that a lot of storytelling is not properly expressed. It is hoped that this study will be used as basic data for the exhibition of intangible cultural assets to be supplemented in the future.
