초등학생의 나눗셈과 비례배분 포함관계 정당화 분석 (Analysis of Justification for the Inclusion Relation about Division and Proportional Distribution in Elementary School Students)

초록

목적 본 연구는 나눗셈과 비례배분의 포함관계 정당화 문제를 통해 수학 교수⋅학습 상황에서 수학 내적 연결성 인식과 정당화 활동을 강화하기 위한 교수⋅학습의 시사점 도출을 목적으로 한다.
방법 이를 위하여 이론적 고찰을 통해 나눗셈과 비례배분 포함관계의 다양한 양상을 현재화하고 포함관계 정당화 근거 분석틀을마련하였으며, 대도시 소재 초등학생 100명을 대상으로 나눗셈과 비례배분의 포함관계 문제를 제시하여 학생들의 정당화 과정을분석하였다.
결과 분석 결과 초등학생들이 두 연산의 포함관계 정당화 근거를 제시할 때 계산 기호에 주목한 학생은 46%, 포함관계 정당화 과정에서 타당한 정당화를 수행한 학생의 비율은 21%였다. 타당한 정당화를 수행한 학생들의 특징은 정당화 과정에서 기호의 의미에주목할 줄 알았고, 더 나아가 다양한 시각적 표상을 통해 그 의미를 점진적으로 구분하면서 두 계산 기호의 의미를 범주화할 수 있었다.
결론 본 연구를 통한 수학 교수⋅학습의 시사점으로 학생들은 정당화할 때 추상적인 연산의 의미보다 구체적인 표상이 가능한 기호에 주목할 가능성이 높으며, 학생들의 타당한 내적 연결성 인식을 강화하기 위해서는 개념에 대한 점진적 구분과 다양한 시각적 활용을 바탕으로 한 두 개념 사이의 연결의 기회를 제공할 필요가 있으며, 이러한 기회를 제공하는데 있어서 정당화 과제는 동일한 주장내 서로 다른 근거를 학생들이 인식할 수 있는 기회를 제공하기 때문에 수학 내적 연결성 지도에 유용한 활동임을 제안한다.

영어초록

Objectives This study seeks to derive implications for teaching and to learn to strengthen the awareness of internal connectivity in mathematics and justification activities in mathematics teaching and learning situations through the problem of justifying the inclusion relationship of division and proportional distribution.
Methods Through theoretical consideration, various aspects of division and proportional distribution inclusion relationships were actualized, an analysis framework for justification for inclusion relations was prepared, and the problem of inclusion relations of division and proportional distribution was presented to 100 elementary school students in metropolitan city. The justification process was analyzed.
Results As a result of the analysis, 46% of elementary school students paid attention to the operation symbol when presenting the justification for the inclusion relationship of the two operations, and 21% of the students performed valid justification in the process of justifying the inclusion relationship. The characteristics of the students who performed valid justification were that they were able to pay attention to the meaning of the sign during the justification process and were able to categorize the meaning of the sign by acting a progressive disentanglement of the meaning and connecting the two operations through various visual representations.
Conclusions As an implication of mathematics teaching and learning through this study, students are likely to pay attention to specific target symbols rather than the meaning of abstract operations when justifying, and a progressive disentanglement of concepts and various visual applications is needed to strengthen students' recognition of good internal connectivity. Based on this, it is necessary to provide an opportunity for a connection between the two concepts. In providing this opportunity, the justification task allows one to recognize different grounds within the same assertion, suggesting that it is a valuable activity for connectivity guidance.
