대학생 멘토링을 활용한 과제 연구 수업에 대한 고등학생과 대학생 멘토의 인식 (Recognition of High School Students and College Student Mentors on Research Project Lessons Using College Student Mentoring)

초록

본 연구의 목적은 우수 고등학생 9명을 대상으로 멘토링을 활용한 과제연구를 실시하였을 때, 학생들의 통합탐구 능력, 과학에 대한 태도 그리고 과제연구에 대한 인식을 조사하는 것이었다. 과학 탐구 능력 중 검사 점수가 향상된 항목은 가설설정, 변인확인, 실험설계이었다. 과학에 대한 태도 중 검사 점수가 향상된 항목은 과학적 태도의 적용, 과학 수업의 즐거움, 과학의 여가활동, 과학 관련 직업 선호이었다.
학생들은 과제 연구 수업을 대체로 긍정적으로 인식하고 있었다. 학생들은 실험에 필요한 개념의 습득, 이미 알던 개념의 정확한 이해와 심화, 호기심 자극 등을 통해 새로운 개념을 학습할 수 있었다고 인식하고 있었다. 학생들은 과학실험 자체에 대한 흥미, 실험에서 예상치 못했던 상황의 경험, 이론으로 배우던 개념의 확인, 하나의 주제에 대한 집중탐색의 기회 등을 통해 과학에 대한 태도가 향상되었다고 인식하고 있었다. 학생들은 새로운 연구 문제의 작성, 토의를 통한 문제해결, 예상하지 못한 결과의 해석, 자율적 실험설계 등을 통해 과학적 태도가 향상되었다고 인식하고 있었다. 학생들은 문제 해결 과정에서 사고의 기회 발생, 실험설계, 새로운 연구문제의 작성 등을 통해 통합적 탐구능력이 향상되었다고 인식하고 있었다.
학생들은 논문을 작성해보는 형식적 경험, 논리적 사고의 경험, 글쓰기의 훈련, 다양한 컴퓨터 프로그램의 사용 등을 통해 과제연구 수업이 논문 작성 능력 향상에 도움 되었다고 인식하고 있었다. 학생들은 과제연구 수업에서 자기 주도적인 실험 활동, 협동적 소통 활동을 가장 좋았던 점으로 인식하였으며, 결과의 분석과 결론 작성, 긴 실험시간, 배경 지식의 부족을 가장 어려웠던 점으로 인식하고 있었다. 마지막으로, 학생들은 과제 연구에서 멘토링은 전체 연구 방향의 안내, 어려운 문제의 조언, 인간적 교류 등에서 긍정적이었다고 인식하고 있었다.

영어초록

The purpose of this study was to investigate 9 excellent high school students' integrated inquiry abilities, attitudes toward science, and their perceptions of research project, when they conducted a research project using mentors. Among the science inquiry abilities, items of which test score improved were hypothesis generating, variable identification, and experimental design. Among the attitudes toward science, items with improved test scores were application of scientific attitude, enjoyment of science class, leisure activities of science, and science - related occupation preference.
The students perceived research project generally positively. Students recognized that they could learn new concepts through the acquisition of concepts necessary for experiments, accurate understanding and deepening of already known concepts, and stimulation of curiosity. Students recognized that the attitude toward science was improved through the interest in the science experiment itself, the experience of the unexpected situation in the experiment, the identification of concepts learned theoretically, and the opportunity to concentrate on one topic. Students recognized that scientific attitudes were improved through writing new research questions, solving problems through discussions, interpreting unexpected results, and autonomous experimental designs. The students recognized that the integrated inquiry ability improved through the opportunity of thinking in the problem solving process, the experimental design, and the writing of new research questions.
Students perceived that research project classes helped to improve their writing skills of research paper through formal experience of writing research papers, experiences of logical thinking, training of writing, and use of various computer programs. The students recognized the self-directed experiment activity and the cooperative communication activity in the research project class as the best point, and recognized analysis of results, conclusion writing, long experiment time, lack of background knowledge as the most difficult point. Finally, students recognized that mentoring in the research project was positive in the guidance of the whole research direction, advice of difficult problems, and human exchanges.
