지지와 고지도로 살펴본 고군산군도의 역사경관과 명소 인식 (The Historical Landscape and Recognition of Attractions in the Gogunsan Archipelago through the Geographical Texts and Old Maps)

초록

본 연구는 고군산의 지역 정체성을 주도하는 명소를 대상으로 경관 인식의 논리와 인문경관적 요소를 탐색하는 것이다. 조선 전기까지 인식된 고군산의 지리정보는 배를 감출 곳이 있어 조운선이 순풍을 기다린 다거나, 무덤에서 금은으로 된 그릇이 도굴되었다는 내용에 국한되었다. 1621년 군산도에 고군산진이 설치되어 해방(海防)이 가능해지면서 황금어장으로 몰려든 산업인구가 급격히 증가하게 되었는데, 이는 고군산 지역에 새로운 장소성이 형성되는 계기가 되었다. 고군산도의 발전과 함께 형성된 문화경관의 명소 인식은 대동지지, 호남진지와 일제시기 동아일보·도서순례 등의 자료에 잘 나타나 있었다. 망주봉은 많은 유배인이 고군산도에 들어옴에 따라 충절지사의 지형으로 상징되었고, 선유봉은 무녀도, 삼도와 더불어 선계의 영역에 비의되었다. 이와 더불어 고군산을 둘러친 방파제의 역할을 하는 십이봉은 무산십이봉으로 이름을 바꿔 부름으로써 신선이 사는 이상 장소로 전화되었다. 장자봉은 장자할매 설화의 현장으로 조명되면서 횡경도의 할배바위와 지리적 친연성이 부각된다. 또한 최치원의 사적인 월영봉은 고군산도에서 금도치굴의 경관인식 논리로 발전했는데, 이상을 통해 고군산 지역에는 경물 분포에 따른 다원적 의미구성이 각각의 명소성을 형성하고 있음을 발견할 수 있었다.

영어초록

This study aims to explore the logic of landscape perception and the elements of humanities and landscapes which are regarded as landmarks that lead the regional identity of Gogunsan area. The geographic information of Gogunsan area, which had been recognized until the early Joseon Dynasty was limited to the content that there was a place to hide the ship so that the ship was waiting for a good wind or that gold ware and silverware were stolen from the tomb. As Gogunsanjin Garrison was established on Gunsando Island in 1621 and damage from the sea was prevented, the place saw the industrial population that flocked to the rich fishing grounds rapidly increase. That was how a new place was formed in the Gogunsando area. With the development of the Gogunsand Island, the recognition of the cultural landscape as a tourist attraction was formed, which can be seen in the sources such as Daedongjiji, Honamjinji, and the Dong-A Ilbo and Doseosunre (Island Pilgrimage) during the Japanese colonial period. As many exiles entered Gogunsando Island, Mangjubong Peak was symbolized as the topography of a man of loyalty. And Seonyubong Peak became an area of the realm of the transcendents along with Mugnyeodo and Samdo Islads. In addition, Twelve Peaks, which acts as a breakwater around Gogunsan area, was transformed into an “ideal place,” where heavenly hermits live by changing its name to Twelve Peaks of Musan. As Jangjabong Peak is illuminated as the site of the story of Jangja Grandma, the geographical affinity with Grandpa Rock in Hoenggyeongdo Island is highlighted. In addition, Wolyeongbong Peak, the historic site of Choi Chi-won, developed into the logic of the Golden Pig Cave of Gogunsando Island. As shown by the above mentioned, it is found that the pluralistic composition of meanings based on the distribution of scenic objects has formed each site as a landmark.
