南漢山城 金石文의 書藝史的 考察 (The Study of the Calligraphy History on Epigraph Relics in Namhan Sanseong)

초록

본고는 남한산성 금석문을 서예사적 맥락에서 고찰한 글이다. 연구를 위해 남한산성 금석문의 형성, 서체적 특징과 서예사적 의의를 고찰하였다.
南漢山城은 한강과 도성 인근에 위치한 지리적 조건으로 인해 우리역사 전개과정에서 중심적 역할을 수행하여 왔다. 삼국통일 후 唐이 백제 땅과 신라 땅을 넘보자 신라의 대당 전쟁에서 남한산성은 전진기지 역할을 하였다. 남한산성은 그 후에도 민과 관이 협력하여 몽고의 침입을 격퇴한 곳이었으며 韓末에는 의병항쟁의 중심지였고 일제 강점에서는 항일투쟁이 치열하게 전개된 역사의 현장이다. 남한산성 재 수축과 외성의 신축은 병자호란 이후 맺은 丁丑和約에도 불구하고 尊王攘夷的 대의명분론과 華夷觀에 입각한 北伐運動과 反淸意識의 발로이다. 아울러 金石文이 형성되는 시기에는 송설체가 유입되어 흥성했으며, 안평대군, 석봉 한호에 이르기까지 다양한 서가들의 서체가 전개되는 양상이 있음을 알 수 있다.
남한산성 금석문의 서체는 모두 해서체로 쓰여 졌지만, 글씨의 대부분이 平淡古朴하고, 거칠고 속됨이 없어서 자연스럽고 진솔한 경지를 보여주고 있다. 또한 구양순체와 안진경체를 混融한 楷書體, 石峯 韓濩의 한석봉체 유행, 추사체의 등장에 이르기까지 조선시대 중․후기를 풍미한 시대의 軌跡으로 자리매김 하였다. 正祖時代는 우리 역사에 있어 극적 변화의 시기였다. 특히 文體反正을 통한 書體反正은 흐트러진 당시 사회의 질서를 바로 잡고 선왕의 탕평정책을 계승하여 왕권 강화와 안정을 이루어 국본을 세운다는 측면의 일환으로 전개된 것이다. 글씨 역시 惇實圓厚하고 沈著妥帖한 필체를 요구했으며, 글씨는 맑은 덕성으로 인해 그 후손이 번창하고 부귀와 복택이 넘친다는 德性論的 성향이 강하였다.
아울러 남한산성의 金石文이 지니고 있는 개개의 書者와 撰者들의 정신과 학문이 유행 또는 가학을 통해 전해짐으로써 우리나라의 정신문화 및 서예술 발전에 기여 한 것은 틀림없는 사실이다. 남한산성 금석문은 조선중기의 서예사적 흐름과 그 맥을 같이 한다고 할 수 있으며, 조선후기 서체반정의 의식이 직·간접적으로 반영된 점에서 시대상을 반영하는 조선의 글씨임이 분명하다.

영어초록

This study inquires into the epigraph in Namhansanseong Fortress in the context of history of calligraphy, and for study and research, the historical background of Namhansanseong Fortress, the formation basis of the relics of metals and rocks, the characteristics of chirography and the significance of calligraphic history.
First, the thesis studies historical background and the formation basis of the calligraphic style of the relics of metals and rocks of which substance is as follows.
Namhansangseong Fortress has played a central role in the deployment process of our history due to geographical conditions of being located around Han River and a capital city. Namhansanseong Fortress did an advanced base role at the war of Shilla against Tang when Tang coveted the land of Baekje and Shilla after the unification of three Kingdoms.
Namhansanseong Fortress was also the place where cooperation between the public and government agencies repelled the invasion of Mongolia, the center of the resistance of loyal troops in the late period of Joseon and the historical scene of a fierce anti-Japanese fight in Japanese colonial era. Reconstruction of Namhansanseong Fortress and the construction of a new outer fortress are the manifestation of an expedition to conquer the north and anti-Ch'ing consciousness based on justification of respecting the king and defecting foreign intruder and Sinocentrism despite Jeongchukhwayak (the convention on the relations of sovereign and subject) concluded after the Manchu war of 1636. Moreover, at the time of the formation of the relics of metals and rocks, Songseolche (Zhao Mengfu’s calligraphic style) flew in and thrived, and the chirography of various calligraphers such as Prince Anpyeong and Han Seok-bong unfolded.
The substance of chirographic characteristics and historical meaning in calligraphy of the relics of metals and rocks in Namhansanseong Fortress is as follows.
The relics of metals and rocks have Haeseo style (the square printed sytle of Chinese handwriting) which is mostly simple and old-fashioned without roughness or secularity showing the natural and sincere realm. Also, Haeseo style mixing Guyangsun style and Anjinkyung style, Han Seok-bong’s style, Chusa style are the most famous calligraphic styles in the period of the middle and end of Joseon Dynasty. The era of King Jungjo was the time of dramatic change in our history which was studded with dramatic events, creating a big stir. Under the circumstances, King Jungjo and his talented people keenly sought after a new era, aiming at the innovation of traditional culture and the building of a new culture based on the tradition. Especially, the chirographic restoration through the style restoration unfolded as a part of erecting the foundation of the nation by reforming the messy social order at that time, succeeding to Tangpyeong(impartiality) policy of the preceding king and achieving strengthened and stable royal authority. Likewise, he sought bold, smooth, deep and clear style of writing. He supports the thought that the handwriting with pure moral virtue allows descendants to be prosperous with good fortune.
Besides, the spirit and study of individual writers and compilers held by the relic of metals and rocks in Namhansanseong Fortress were conveyed by trend or study handed down through the family, leading to contributing to the development of Korean moral culture and calligraphy art.
As such, the relics of metals and rocks in Namhansanseong Fortress are in line with the flow of calligraphic history in the middle of the Joseon Dynasty, and it is a certain fact that they reflect the phases of the times as the consciousness of the chirographic restoration in the latter part of the Joseon dynasty was reflected directly and indirectly in the relics.
