고전문학사 서술과 문학사 교육의 거리 (The Distance Between Description and Education of the History of Korean Classical Literature)

초록

100여 년 문학사 서술의 역사에서 가장 체계적이고 방대하며 거시적 이론과 미시적 작품 분석을 고루 갖춘 문학사로 평가받는 조동일의 『한국문학통사』 이후로는, 역설적이게도, 사적 체계를 갖춘 문학사 서술이 쇠퇴하고 있다. 민족문학론에 편승한 문학사 서술의 시대는 저물고, 교육을 위한 도구로서의 문학사 교육이 주목받는 시대에 양자 간 거리를 진단하고, 양자의 관계를 새롭게 설계하는 일이 긴요한 과제다. 이에 국내 고전문학사 서술과 문학사 교육 양 측면에서 영향력이 큰 『한국문학통사』와 2015 개정 교육과정 『문학』 교과서 내 문학사 단원 서술 내용을 중심으로 양자의 거리를 살폈다.
현행 『문학』 교과서에 교술 포함 4분법에 의거한 문학 갈래 흐름 설명, ‘이면적 표면적 주제’, ‘영웅의 일생 구조’ 등을 활용한 교육 내용 설계 자체는 『한국문학통사』의 영향력을 반영한다. 그러나 『한국문학통사』에서 보이는 주관적 서술은 문학사 교육 교재로서 담보해야 할 객관성, 보편성과는 거리가 있다. 『문학』 교과서 내 문학사 교육은 갈래적 특성 파악 위주 학습활동으로 치우쳐 있고, 2천 년 문학사를 너무 소략히 다루고 있어 비현실적이며 비교육적이라는 비판을 면하기 어렵다. 시대구분에 따른 사적(史的) 이해 교육이 부재하고, 불명확한 용어나 개념어 사용으로 인한 혼란도 문학사 교육에서 바로잡아야 할 과제다.
문학사의 효용가치와 패러다임이 변하고 있는 오늘날, 이미지와 표현, 디지털 리터러시를 적극 활용한 문학사 서술과 문학사 교육의 접점 찾기가 필요하다. 문자 위주의 민족주의 문학사 서술과 교육에서 탈피해 다원체계를 지닌 문학사 서술과 교육이 요청된다. 다원체계는 작품과 실재의 파악뿐 아니라 독자의 수용에서도 적극 요구된다.

영어초록

In the history of literary history of 100-year, about 90 national literary history have appeared. Since Cho Dong-il's Korean Literature History(韓國文學通史)(1982~1988), which is considered as the most systematic, massive, and macro-theory and micro-art work analysis, has appeared, paradoxically, there is no more works of literary history. In the 1950s, Kang Bum-woo's Korean Literary History for Education(1956) appeared in the educational literature. Recently, the proportion of literary history for education has been increasing relatively.
The era of description for literary history riding on the theory of national literature goes on, and instead of it, the era of literary history as a tool for education comes. It is necessary to diagnose the distance between both and to design a new one. To narrow the distance between the descriptions of the Korean Literature History(4th edition)(2005) and literary history units in the “Literary” textbooks(2015 revised curriculum), which are highly influential in both aspects of Korean Classical literary history description and literary history education, it is required to find a clue.
In the current “Literature” textbook, explaining the flow of literary genre change based on the four-genre method and dealing with the 'teaching(敎述)' genre itself is the influence of “Korean Literature History”. The gap between the subjective argument shown in “Korean Literature History” and the provision of objective knowledge to be secured as a teaching material for literary history is a task to overcome. The education of literary history is focused on learning activities focused on grasping characteristics of genres, and dealing with the literary history of 2000 years too briefly is unrealistic and non-educational. Education of literary history is only staying on education focused on knowledge and memorization. In addition to the absence of historical understanding education according to the division of the periods, the use of ambiguous terms and conceptual words is causing confusion. The education of literary history based on national literature, which focuses on characters, ignoring learners' digital literacy has its limitations.
Accordingly, this paper emphasized the need of description and education of the history of Korean classical literature with a multidisciplinary system(complex) for future-oriented literary history and education. Today, as the utility value and paradigm of literary history are changing, This paper insisted on the necessity of literary history education by actively utilizing images and digital literacy. In literary history, the realization of the multidisciplinary system is required not only in grasping works and reality, but also in the understanding of literary history.
