초록

본 연구는 탈북 청소년의 도덕적 특성 분석을 통해 문화 간의 도덕적 보편성과 문화 내의 도덕적 다양성을 설명한다. 문화 간의 차이에 초점을 두는 문화심리학의 관점은 문화 내의 도덕적 다양성을 간과하거나 경시한다. 도덕성은 문화적 산문이 아니라 개인의 다양한 목적과 관심, 문화적 맥락에 대한 개인의 해석과 상호작용에 따라 다양하다. 탈북 청소년의 도덕성을 실증적으로 분석한 결과, 탈북 청소년은 또래의 한국 청소년과 마찬가지로 도덕적 공정성이 높고 도덕적 관용이 낮았다. 그러나 탈북 청소년은 출생 국가, 중국 거주기간, 한국 거주기간, 학교 교육 환경에 따라 도덕성이 다르게 나타났다. 탈북 청소년과 한국 청소년의 도덕성에는 보편적인 특성이 존재한다. 탈북 청소년의 도덕성은 탈북민이라는 집단의 특성으로 존재하는 것이 아니라, 개인의 도덕적 성향, 도덕적 도식, 도덕적 정체성이 통합적으로 작동한 개인의 특성으로 나타난다. 탈북 청소년 집단의 도덕적 보편성과 다양성에 대한 이해는 통일시대에 지속가능한 도덕교육 방안 모색하는데 기여할 수 있다.

영어초록

The purpose of the present study is to explain the moral universality between cultures and the moral diversity within culture by analyzing the moral personality of North Korean adolescent refugees, and then to propose a sustainable moral education plan for a prospective unified era. The basic proposition of moral development in cultural psychology is that humans develop through culture and form moral lives. However, the perspective of cultural psychology, which focuses on the differences between cultures, may overlook or downplay the differences within culture. The moral development of humans, rather than being a cultural product, is diverse depending on the various purposes and interests of the individual and his or her interpretation of the special context within culture. Empirical testing of the moral personality of North Korean adolescent refugees revealed individual differences depending on individual situation and context rather than specificity as part of the North Korean refugee group. The moral development of North Korean adolescent refugees indicated the highest level in fairness intelligence similar to the moral development of south Korean adolescents and the lowest level in tolerance intelligence. Adolescents born in North Korea, with shorter periods of staying in China and longer periods of staying in South Korea, and who were commuting to school in the city were more likely to have a higher level of moral intelligence. A sustainable moral development is only possible when the adolescents of both North and South Korea, who will play leading roles in the unified era to come, resolve their prejudices and stereotypes by understanding the moral universality and diversity which exists between cultures.
