    초록

The hegemony which Japan set forth at the end of the Japanese colonial period was to take part in all-out war on the basis of the theory of the Greater East Asia Co-Prosperity Sphere. If so, it was natural for Kwang-soo Lee as a mediator to express the hegemony to perform it through translation. But the translation process of his works was disclosed overtly, or sometimes omitted. In other words, he did not translate predominant discourse, or enclosed all translated words in brackets. Therefore, Two inferences can be drawn in this thesis.
First, there are the emergence of national identity which is equivalent for the ‘impossibility of translation’, inner contradictions and cracking spots in the writing method of Kwang-soo Lee at the end of the Japanese colonial period. “Their love” and “The Song of Spring” expressed seemingly pro Japanese thoughts and pursued the identity as a perfect Japanese, but it is clear that the identity as a person of Joseon is also revealed in the poems because of his unique writing method.
Second, though Kwang-soo Lee understood ‘impossibility of translation’, a kind of strategic awareness is included in his continuous attempt to write in Japanese language and translate his works into Japanese language. Therefore, his awareness can be regarded as his desperate efforts to get over ‘relation’ and ‘separation’ of the people of Joseon and the people of Japan to solve ‘difference’ from the viewpoint of national recover. Furthermore, his translation and writing in Japanese language themselves caused identification logic of colonial discourse, which depended on fixed identification of colonialists and subjects, to be weakened by his producing the boundary status which is neither a person of Joseon nor a Japanese. And this thesis focused on the possibility of strategic rhetoric to lead to the differentiation of the colonial power.
