밀레니얼 세대의 대학시절 진로발달 유형에 관한 질적 사례 연구 (A qualitative case study on the career development patterns of the millennial generation during college)

초록

목적 고등교육 등록율이 높아지면서 대학생의 진로개발은 더욱 어려움을 겪고 있다. 대학생의 진로개발이 그들의 생활 속에서 어떤 식으로 이루어지고 있는지 진로개발활동과 조력하는 인물이나 관계형성의 정도를 밝히기 위하여 연구를 수행하였다.
방법 기존 연구들이 진로 관련 교육과정 또는 비교과에서의 개발과 효과성 검증에 중점을 두었고, 한 연구에서 대학생들이 학교 주도 비교과 프로그램 참여에 적극적이었다는 연구결과에 따라, 이 연구에서는 대학생의 자기주도적 측면의 경험을 이해하는데 유용한 질적 연구방법을 사용하였다. 의도적 표집방법을 활용하여 서울에 위치한 3만 명 규모의 A대학에 2013년에 재학 중이었던 학생들을 연구하였다. Charmaz의 질적 연구 분석 방법을 활용하였다.
결과 자신의 현재 삶에서 직업 이후 삶을 자연스럽게 융합해보는 생활융합 실험형, ‘시장’이 되는 미래 직장에 필요할 것으로 추측되는 ‘스펙’을 쌓기 위해 유의미하다고 판단되는 프로젝트에 참여하며 몸값을 높이는 이력서 만들기에 여념이 없는 프로젝트 수집형, 공직이나 대학원 등 지필고사가 통용되는 진로를 선택하여 수험생활을 보내듯이 대학생활을 하는 시험준비 몰입형으로 구분하였다.
결론 유형Ⅰ은 자발적으로 선택한 활동에 참여하는 한편, 자연스럽게 소속된 비자발적 모임에서도 관계를 형성하였다. 유형Ⅱ는 자신의 목적을 달성하는 데 필요한 대인관계를 우선시하며, 자발적으로 선택한 관계에 집중하였다. 유형Ⅲ은 학과나 수업에 필요한 모임으로 관계를 최소화하였다. 지식은 인격적 만남 뿐 아니라, 참여의 실제성에서 암묵적으로 체화되는 특성을 가지는데 맥락적 분리를 선택할수록 인간관계도 더욱 좁아지는 특성을 지니는 것으로 이해될 수 있다.

영어초록

Objectives As higher education enrollment rates increase, college students' career development is becoming more difficult. A study was conducted to find out how college students' career development is carried out in their lives and the degree of career development activities and supporting people and relationships.
Methods Previous studies have focused on the development and effectiveness of career-related curriculum or extracurricular programs, and one study found that college students were active in participating in school-led extracurricular programs. In this study, college students' self-directed experiences were investigated. Qualitative research methods is useful for understanding personal perception and experiences. Using a purposive sampling method, we studied students attending University A in Seoul in 2013 with a population of 30,000. Charmaz's qualitative research analysis method was used.
Results A lifestyle convergence experiment that naturally integrates one's current life with the life after work, participating in projects deemed meaningful to build up the ‘specs’ expected to be needed for a future job in the ‘market’, and is busy creating a resume that increases the value. They were divided into the project-collection type, which does not have a job, and the test preparation immersion type, where students choose a career path where paper-based exams are commonly used, such as public service or graduate school, and spend their college life as if they were taking the exam.
Conclusions Type I participated in voluntarily chosen activities and also formed relationships in involuntary groups to which they naturally belonged. Type II prioritized interpersonal relationships necessary to achieve one's goals and focused on voluntarily chosen relationships. Type III is a meeting necessary for the department or class, and relationships are minimized. Knowledge has the characteristic of being implicitly embodied not only in personal encounters but also in the reality of participation, and it can be understood as having the characteristic that the more contextual separation is chosen, the more narrow human relationships become.
