대순사상의 미(美) 개념과 미학적 특징 (The Concept of Beauty and Aesthetic Characteristics in Daesoon Thought)

초록

본 연구는 진과 선의 가치가 미의 형태로 드러난다면 대순사상에서 진리는 어떻게 ‘미적인 것’으로 표출되고 나타나는지를 미학적 관점에서 분석하고자 하였다. 이에 대순진리회의 신앙을 감각과 감정, 아름다움으로 성찰하는 전통 미학 혹은 신학적 미학의 방법으로 접근해보고자 한다.
『전경』을 중심으로 살펴본 대순사상의 미 개념은 신성(神性)과 도리(道理), 일심(一心), 관계(關係)에 숭고와 균제, 절제, 조화미로 나타난다고 할 수 있다. 이러한 미 개념으로 고찰한 대순사상의 미학은 천지공사의 미학과 상생의 미학, 치유의 미학이다. 천지공사에는 하느님이 화신(化身)하여 이 땅에 다녀가셨다는 역사가 담겨있다. 인간 ‘강증산’이 상제라는 깨달음은 충격적인 미적 모티브이자 대순진리회의 신학적 출발점이라 할 수 있다. 상생은 상호관계의 사회성을 심미적으로 나타내는 용어라고 볼 수 있으며 관계의 조화와 통일에 상생의 미학적 구조가 있다고 본다. 치유에는 인류를 무병의 선경세상으로 이끄는 상제의 신성한 숭고미와 인간을 안심ㆍ안신으로 나아가게 하는 절제미가 담겨있다 할 수 있다. 치유의 궁극적 가치인 의통은 인류의 이상을 실현해 주는 수도의 종착점이자, 아름다운 삶, 가치 있는 삶이라는 영적 쾌감을 주는 치유의 미학을 보여주고 있다. 미학의 시선으로 살펴본 대순사상의 미학적 특징은 진멸지경에 놓인 세상에서 창생을 구원하고자 우리 곁에 머물다간 상제의 ‘거룩한 수고’와 상생의 실천으로 치유를 이끌어 내는 미적 태도를 갖고 있음을 알 수 있다.
우리는 아름다운 여인을 보면 ‘여신(女神) 같다’고 하거나 ‘선녀(仙女) 같다’는 말을 한다. 아름다운 음악을 들으면 ‘천상(天上)의 소리’라 찬사하고 즐거움이 가득할 때는 ‘신(명)이 난다’고 표현한다. 신(神)은 곧 아름다움의 상징이며 신의 세계는 아름다움의 원형을 의미한다 할 수 있다. 아름다움에 대한 경험은 우리의 영혼을 신에게로 안내한다. 대순사상의 미적 체험은 감정적, 지적, 영적 환희의 절정을 이루는 종교체험으로 그 무엇과도 비교할 수 없는 아름다움을 인식하는 심미적 체험이라 할 수 있다.

영어초록

In this study, values of truth and good are expressed in the form of beauty, and truth and good are analyzed from an aesthetic point of view. This enables an assessment of how truth is expressed and presented as an "aesthetic" in Daesoon Thought. Therefore, an approach to faith in Daesoon Jinrihoe (大巡眞理會) can be presented via traditional aesthetics or theological aesthetics that reflect on sense experience, feelings, and beauty.
The concept of beauty in Daesoon Thought which focuses on The Canonical Scripture appears in keywords used in Daesoon Thought such as divine nature (神性), the pattern of Dao (道理), the singularly-focused mind (一心), and relationships (關係). Therein, one can find sublimation, symmetry, moderation, and harmony. The aesthetic features of Daesoon Thought, when considered as an aesthetic system can formulate thinking regarding the aesthetics of ’Reordering Works of Heaven and Earth’ (天地公事), the aesthetics of Mutual Beneficence (相生), and the aesthetics of healing. The Reordering Works of Heaven and Earth contain a record of the Supreme God visiting the world as a human being. The realization that the human figure, Kang Jeungsan (1871-1909), is the Supreme God, Sangje (上帝), is the shocking aesthetic motif and theological starting point of the Reordering Works of Heaven and Earth. Mutual Beneficence can be seen aesthetically as indicating the sociality of mutual relations, and there is an aesthetic structure of Mutual Beneficence in the harmony and unification of those relations. Healing can be said to contain the sacred sublimation of Sangje, and moderation is a form of beauty that makes humans move toward Quieting the mind and Quieting the body (安心ㆍ安身), the Dharma of Presiding over Cures (醫統), and the ultimate value of healing, which is the end point of the Cultivation (修道) wherein one realizes that the ideals of humankind and the aesthetics of healing bestow the spiritual pleasures of a beautiful and valuable life. The aesthetic characteristics of Daesoon Thought demonstrate an aesthetic attitude that leads to healing through Sangje’s Holy Works and the practice of Mutual Beneficence (相生) which were performed when He stayed with us to vastly save all beings throughout the Three Realms that teetered on the brink of extinction.
It is not uncommon to see a beautiful woman and remark she is like a goddess (女神) or female immortal (仙女). Likewise, beautiful music is often praised as "the sound of heaven." That which fills us with joy is spoken of as "divine beings (神明)" of God. God is a symbol of beauty, and the world of God can be said to be the archetype of beauty. Experience of beauty guides our souls to God. The aesthetic experience of Daesoon Thought is a religious experience that culminates in emotional, intellectual, and spiritual joy, and it is an aesthetic experience that recognizes transcendent beauty.
