한국어 전공 외국인 학습자를 위한 문학 교수법 -작품 읽기에서 감상문 쓰기까지 학습 과정의 한 제안- (Literature Teaching Skills for Foreign Learners Who Majored in Korean Language ― A Suggestion of Learning Process from Reading to Writing ―)

초록

2000년대 이후 세계적으로 한국문화와 한국어에 대한 수요도가 증가함에 따라 국내외적으로 한국학과가 신설되고 한국학 교수자 양성 및 교수방법 개발이 활발히 진행되고 있다. 특히 외국인을 대상으로 하는 한국문학교육은 한국인 대상 문학교육과 그 비중이나 교육목적에 차이가 있다. 외국인 대상 한국학 전공 과정에서 문학 및 문학연구 교육은 의사소통 차원에서의 언어학습을 넘어 한국사회에 대한 이해의 초석을 다지는 통합학습으로 수렴되고 한국의 사상, 문화, 전통 등과 결부된 폭넓은 수준의 지식을 섭렵할 수 있는 기재가 되기 때문이다.
본고에서는 2017~18년 파리디드로대학 한국어과 3학년 과정에서 필자가 시행했던 ‘문학 연구’ 수업의 내용과 방법을 토대로 한국학 전공 유학생을 대상으로 하는 문학에 대한 학습법을 전반적으로 제시하고, 더 나아가 한 작품을 선정하여 전문을 읽고 감상문 쓰기까지의 과정을 문학수업의 한 방법으로 제안하고자 했다. 즉, 문학수업에서 한국근대문학과 현대문학을 개괄적으로 살펴본 후 한 편의 희곡, ‘발단-전개-위기-절정-결말’이 있는 작품에 집중하여 전문을 읽고 함의된 문제들을 토론한 후 감상문을 쓰는 과정이다.
학습은 교실 수업에 앞서 다뤄야할 작품에 대해 선행학습을 수행하는 교실 수업 전 학습과 실제로 작품을 읽고 감상문을 쓰는 교실 수업으로 크게 나뉜다.
먼저 교실 수업 전 단계는 작품과 관련한 선지식을 쌓는 단계로 재택학습의 형태를 띤다. 해당 수업 내용을 동영상 혹은 기타 자료를 활용하여 학생들이 미리 학습하는 플립러닝 방식이다. 다음으로 교실수업에서는 작품에 함의된 사회·문화적 문제를 제기하는 문제기반학습(Problem-based Learning)을 통해 토론을 하고 팀기반학습(Team-based Learning)과 접목하여 내용지식을 구축한다. 동시에 글의 장르적 텍스트의 구조를 분석하고 장르에 따른 어휘군을 추출하여 학습하는 장르중심 접근법(genre approach)을 활용함으로써 글쓰기 진입장벽을 낮춘다.
파리디드로대학교에서 진행된 문학연구 수업의 전반적인 예를 제시하면서 학문 목적 외국인 유학생을 대상으로 하는 문학교육의 한 방안을 제안한 것은 그 수업의 전략이 국내대학의 외국인 대상 문학교육에서 좀더 체계적이고 유의미한 활동을 하는데 조그만 보탬이라도 되고자하는 바람에서이다.

영어초록

After 2000, as increasing global demands for Korean language and Korean culture, there has been active development of teaching method and teacher training of Korean studies with establishing the department of Korean Studies both at home and abroad. Especially, there's a huge difference between Korean literature education for foreigners and Koreans in both its relative importance and goal pursued. Thereby, much more delicate teaching methods should be researched to achieve the goal.
Literature and literature researches education in the major course of Korean studies for foreigners converged to integration learning that is way beyond language learning at the communication level and becomes the foundation of understanding Korean society. This will drive them to master extensive knowledge that is associated with Korean social notions, culture, and tradition.
In this study, I would like to suggest a learning method of literature for foreigners who major in Korean studies and a process from reading to writing that had been implemented focusing on a text as a literature teaching skill based on the 'literature researches' class and its skills that I had implemented in a 3rd-grade undergraduate course for Korean Language department of the University Paris Diderot through 2017~2018. In this literature class, we had a broad-brush review of Korean modern and contemporary literature, and then read the full text of a scenario, which has 'Exposition - Conflict/Problem - Rising Action - Climax – Denouement' structure. This process which focused on one selected text, reading with a critical eye and writing a review after discussing it is the main idea that this study would like to state.
Learning could be divided into two big parts which are pre-reading activities regarding the text that happened before the class and in-class activities that learners write a review after they actually analyze and understand the text.
The pre-reading activity stage before the class is an at-home activity for prior knowledge regarding the text before actual reading. It is a Flipped learning method that lets students build prior knowledge with visual or other materials.
In sequence, the learners build the content knowledge as discussing through Problem-based Learning which points out the main point of the text and brings up implied social and cultural issues in the text through brainstorming and combining with Team-based Learning. Simultaneously, it lowers the entry barrier to write by utilizing genre-approach that is studying with extracted vocabulary regarding the genre and analyzing the distinctive text structure according to the genre.
This suggestion of literature education for academic purpose foreign learners with the example of literature researches class that had been implemented at the University Paris Diderot was made as hoping this teaching strategy would be of some help in implementing comparatively systematic and meaningful activities in literature education for foreigners at local universities.
