『금계필담(錦溪筆談)』 소재 <광묘유일공주(光廟有一公主)>를 통해 본 드라마 <공주의 남자>의 문제의식과 그 한계 (The Critical Mind and the Limits of Drama through the in 『Kum-Kye pil-dam(錦溪筆談)』)

초록

조선 후기 야담집인 『금계필담』 에 소재한 <광묘유일공주>의 내용이 대중의 관심사가 된 것은 2011년에 <공주의 남자>라는 드라마의 원전으로 알려지면서부터이다. 이처럼 우리의 고전 작품이 현대 드라마와 관련되면서 사랑받는 현상은 그 나름의 의의를 갖고 있다. 나아가 이러한 현상이 우리 삶을 돌아보고 더 나은 해답을 찾는 데 기여한다면 좋을 것이다. 그렇게 되려면 두 작품에 대한 이해가 선행될 필요가 있다. 그에 따라 이 글에서는 <광묘유일공주>와 <광묘유일공주>를 기반으로 만들어졌다고 알려진 드라마 <공주의 남자>에서 각기 강조하고 있는 문제의식이 무엇인지를 탐색하고자 하려는 것이다.
그리하여 <광묘유일공주>의 주요한 내용은 ‘아버지의 부당함을 제기하여 아버지로부터 쫓겨난 딸이 독립 한다’는 것이며, <광묘유일공주>는 ‘내 복에 산다 유형’에 속하는 작품임이 밝혀진다. 무엇보다 <광묘유일공주>는 ‘내 복에 산다 유형’에 나타난 아버지의 반성과 딸이 보여주는 용서에 대한 고민을 진지하게 담고 있다. 덧붙이자면 ‘내 복에 산다’유형에서 용서받는 아버지는 예전에 저지른 과오에 대한 진정성 있는 반성을 보인 데 비하여 <광묘유일공주>에서의 세조는 자신이 저지른 일은 어쩔 수 없는 역사적 굴레였음으로 변명하는데 그친 측면이 있다. 그리고 공주는 일말의 미련도 남기지 않은 채 아버지와의 분리를 선택한다. 그런 점에서 <광묘유일공주>는 아버지의 반성이 절실해야만 딸과의 화해가 가능함을 강조한 작품이기도 하다.
드라마 <공주의 남자>는 초반에는 <광묘유일공주>처럼 수양대군에서 세조로 등극하는 아버지의 정치적 야욕에 대하여 경계하고 문제 삼는 세령 공주를 통해 <광묘유일공주>의 문제의식을 강조한다. 그렇지만 초반에 예각화되었던 수양대군과 세령 간의 대립 양상은 매 회를 거듭하면서 점차 흐려진다. 왜냐하면 드라마가 전개되면서 아버지의 부당함에 대하여 이의를 제기하던 세령의 목소리가 점차 아버지에게 맞서는 것은 불가능하다는 쪽으로 기울어졌기 때문이다. 세령의 태도 변화와 더불어 드라마 <공주의 남자>는 세령과 김승유의 애틋한 사랑의 비중이 높아지면서 <광묘유일공주>의 문제의식과 점점 멀어진다. 그리하여 드라마 <공주의 남자>는 부당한 아버지 세계와는 타협하지 않겠다던 딸의 목소리를 약화시키고, 과거의 치열함은 현재의 사랑에 비춘다면 덧없는 것임을 강조하는 결말로 마무리된다. 따라서 드라마 <공주의 남자>는 <광묘유일공주>와 같은 지점에서 출발하여도 그 문제의식을 충실히 반영하지 못한 채, 결국 기득권인 아버지의 세력에는 대적할 수 없다는 체념적 결말로 안착하는 한계를 안고 종료되었다 할 수 있다.

영어초록

<Kwangmye's Princess> in 『Kum-Kye pil-dam』 is anecdote with a conflict and collapse between King Sejo and King Sejo's daughter. The contents of <Kwangmye's Princess> has began to make a mark when it came into use as the original of the drama <the Man of Princess> in 2011.
The phenomena of increasing interest about the historical context or original work of reproducing our classic work for a modern, like these, is very positive. But, this positive interest or phenomena is need to be comparative analysis of the critical mind between the original work and it's reproduction for more firmness and durability. That's the point of recognizing the work which is based on the classic in relationship to the descriptive properties of the work.
In this article, I searched the critical mind and the descriptive properties of <Kwangmye's Princess> in 『Kum-Kye pil-dam』, and suggested how to use it in drama <the Man of Princess>. First of all, I suggested that the main contents of <Kwangmye's Princess> is the type of 'living one’s own fortune' because that the daughter has independence from her father by claiming father's irrationality. At the same time, the father's self-reflection and daughter's forgiveness unfolding in a very natural way in the type of 'living one’s own fortune' is the reanalysis point in <Kwangmye's Princess>.
Most of the father who have been forgiven by his daughter under the her catholicity, in the type of 'living one’s own fortune', is naturally led to deep self-reflection about his past mistakes. But, In the <Kwangmye's Princess>, 세조 recommend princess to return the palace saying that what he committed was historical cycle and it was out of his control. About the father, the princess selected the separation with father never left any her feelings.
In this point, <Kwangmye's Princess> show us to the message which the dramatic reconciliation between father and daughter need to be father's deep self-reflection, and to long for actualizing justice carried out by the mouth of daughter. And drama <the Man of Princess> seems to make the critical point of <Kwangmye's Princess> reality through the appearance of princess Sereong who makes question and is alert the father's political ambition becoming King Sejo from Sir Suyang Daegun like <Kwangmye's Princess>.
But, which is opposed sharply earlier, antagonism between father and daughter is diluted. Because, as the drama continues, the main contents moves into affecting love between Kimseungyo who stands at the opposite of Sir Suyang Daegun and Sereong. As the result, <the Man of Princess> is different <Kwangmye's Princess> in the view of context and the critical point of the work is changed incorrectly.
Thus, <the Man of Princess> and <Kwangmye's Princess> had similar start point, but <the Man of Princess> has finished with different and resigned end that she never overcome her father who has vested interest. Because the daughter's voice saying the father's irrationality acerbically in <Kwangmye's Princess> is disappeared. As the result, <the Man of Princess> became the limit and had some distance with <Kwangmye's Princess> which has a critical point - I can not return and admit the father's unfair world-strongly.
