대학생의 비대면 서비스-러닝에서 학습 경험과 성장의 탐색 (A Study on University Students’ Learning Experiences and Advancement through Non-Face-to-Face Service-Learning)

초록

본 연구의 목적은 대학생이 비대면 서비스-러닝에서 가지는 학습 경험과 성장을 탐색하는 것이다. 서비스-러닝에서 학생들은 대학 울타리를 벗어난 실제 현장에서 봉사하면서 수업에서 배운 지식을 적용하고 성찰하며 의미 있는 지식을 구성한다. 코로나19로 실제 현장에 접근하기 어려운 상황에 대응하여 비대면 서비스-러닝에 참여할 때 대학생들은 어떤 학습 경험과 성장을 하고 있는지 알아보기 위해 본 연구에서는 다음 연구문제를 중심으로 탐색하였다. 첫째, 비대면 서비스-러닝에서 학생들은 어떤 학습 경험을 하였는가? 둘째, 비대면 서비스-러닝에서 학생들은 어떤 성장을 하였는가? 연구결과, 대학생들은 비대면 서비스-러닝을 통해서 자신의 성장과 변화, 봉사의 보람, 봉사대상자의 눈높이에 맞춘 준비와 노력, 환경의 제약에서 벗어난 관계 맺음의 즐거움을 경험하며 코로나19로 겪고 있는 소외와 단절감을 극복할 수 있었다. 그리고 서비스-러닝 경험을 통해 학생들은 삶에 대한 긍정적인 태도, 학습동기와 자신감의 향상, 진로 설정에 있어서 주체적인 생각과 의지를 보여줄 정도로 성장하였다. 본 연구는 비대면 서비스-러닝에서의 학습 경험을 탐색하며 교육적 가능성을 제시했다는 점에서 의미가 있다. 또한 향후 비대면 서비스-러닝에 보다 많은 관심과 참여를 이끌어내기 위한 기초자료가 될 것으로 기대된다.

영어초록

The purpose of this study is to explore if non-face-to-face Service-Learning (S-L) environment can effectively provide the learning experience needed to advance the participating university students.
The participating students will apply their learned knowledge of serving the community not just within campus grounds but also outside in the real live environment. The main focus of this study is to examine how these students were able to apply their learned knowledge in this COVID-19 pandemic situation where face-to-face community services are limited, and what kind of growth and experience they were able to gain from that environment.
First, what kind of learning experiences did the students have from the non-face-to-face S-L? Second, what kind of advancement were the students able to make in the non-face-to-face S-L? The results of this study revealed that the participating students were very satisfied in their learning experiences and felt that the process of thinking outside the box to meet the needs of non-face-to-face community and applying these ideas gave them a better experience and achievement feeling. This study shows that there are unlimited applications that can be made with non-face-to-face S-L, and that unexpected better results may be received by further challenging the students when they are put in a difficult situation. This study shows that non-face-to-face learning can be just as effective as face-to-face learning in the S-L field, and most important we can overcome the limitations of COVID-19’s pandemic sense of disconnection and alienation felt by the community. In addition, through the service-learning, students had advanced to the point of showing positive attitudes toward life, improvement of learning motivation and self- confidence, independent thoughts and wills in career setting. This study will be the base for drawing more interest and participation in non-face-to-face S-L in the future.
