고등학교 일본어 교과서의 말하기 활동 분석-2009개정교육과정 ‘고등학교 일본어Ⅰ’을 중심으로- (An Analysis of Speaking Activities in High School Japanese Textbooks -Focused on ‘High School Japanese I’ in 2009 Revised National Curriculum-)

초록

본고에서는 고등학교 일본어 교과서Ⅰ에 제시되어 있는 말하기 활동을 분석하여 말하기 활동의 전개 양상과 그에따른 문제점을 논하였다. 교과서에 제시된 말하기 활동의 유형과 기능 통합의 특징을 제시하면 다음과 같다. ①교과서의 말하기 유형은 언어 습득 중심 활동으로 이루어져 있다.②언어 습득 중심 활동 중 ‘유의미한 연습’이 가장 많으며, 다음은 ‘기계적인 연습’, ‘의사소통적인 연습’ 순이다.③언어 사용 중심 활동은 일부 놀이/과업 활동에 도입되어 있을뿐으로 제시 비율이 매우 낮다.④언어 기능 통합 양상은 교과서의 구성 체계와 달리 말하기 단독 활동이 가장 많다.⑤2 기능 통합은 듣고 말하기가 가장 많고, 다음으로 쓰고 말하기, 읽고 말하기 순이다.⑥3기능이상 통합 제시 비율이 매우 낮다. 이상의 분석 결과를 바탕으로 고등학교 일본어 교과서의 말하기 활동의 문제점을 제시하면, 정확성이 강조된 언어 습득 중심 활동의 편중이 심하며, 유창성을 기르기 위한 활동의 도입이 제한적이어서 교육과정에서 제시하고있는 유창성이 강조된 학습은 한계가 따를 것으로 보인다. 또한 말하기 단독 활동의 제시 비율이 높다는 사실은 말하기 활동 유형이 단조롭게 구성되어 있다는 것으로, 2기능 통합뿐만 아니라 3-4기능 통합 말하기 활동의 적극적인 도입이 요구된다. 말하기는 언어에 대한 지식(knowledge)과 그 지식을 이용하는 기술(skill)의 차이가 큰 기능으로, 말하기 활동의 유형을 다양화하고 언어 기능을 유기적으로 통합하여 보다 자연스럽게 의사소통 능력이 향상될 수 있도록 교과서를 구성해야 할 것이다.

영어초록

This article analyzes speaking activities proposed in High School Japanese Textbook I and discusses the development and problems of the speaking activities.
Regarding types and integrating language skills of speaking activities proposed in the textbook, ① types of speaking activities proposed in the Japanese textbook are focused on language acquisition; ② among language acquisition activities, ‘meaningful practice’ was most commonly used, followed by ‘mechanical practice’ and ‘communicative practice’; ③ activities focusing on language use were introduced only in some part of play/task activities and, therefore, are highly limited; ④ as for integration of integrating language skills, individual speaking activities are most often presented, which does not correspond to the organization of the textbook; ⑤ integration of two different functions is most commonly found in listening and speaking, followed by writing and speaking, and reading and speaking; and, ⑥ also, integration of three or more functions is also very limited.
Based on the results of the analysis, this study proposed problems in speaking activities that are proposed in the high school Japanese textbook. The textbook is excessively focused on activities for language acquisition with emphasis on accuracy with limited activities intended to improve fluency, and, therefore, it poses limitations on fluency-oriented learning as proposed in the curriculum.
Also, the fact that individual speaking activities account for a high percentage implies that the variety of speaking activities is limited. Therefore, it is necessary to actively introduce integration of two or more functions in speaking activities. Speaking is a function in which the knowledge of the language differs widely from the skill of using it.
Therefore, it is important to develop a textbook that diversifies speaking activities and organically integrate language functions, to help learners improve communication skills more naturally.
