滿殿春別詞의 名義와 性格에 대한 연구 (Research on the inscriptive and Character of Manjeonchunbeolsa)

초록

‘만전춘별사(滿殿春別詞)’는 매우 특수한 형식과 내용을 가지고 있는 시가(詩歌)임에도 불구하고 그것이 지니고 있는 형식적 특성이나 내용적 성격에 대한 논의가 활발하게 이루어지지 못했다. 그렇게 된 이유로는 첫째, 작품의 명칭이 가지는 의미를 정확하게 파악하지 못한 점, 둘째, 작품의 형식적 통일성을 올바르게 찾아내지 못한 점, 셋째, 내용적 일관성을 밝혀내지 못한 점 등을 들 수 있다. 작품의 명칭에 대한 해석이 제대로 이루어지지 못하자 그것과 내용의 연결고리를 찾을 수 없게 되었으며, 내용의 일관성 역시 발견하기가 어렵게 됨으로써 전체적인 해석이나 이해가 난관에 봉착했던 것이다. 더구나 ‘만전춘별사’의 형식은 동일한 형태의 주기적 반복 구조를 가지는 일반적인 문학적 형식과는 큰 차이를 보이고 있기 때문에 구조적 통일성을 찾아낸다는 것은 결코 쉬운 일이 아니었다. 상황이 이렇게 되자 ‘만전춘별사’는 작품이 지니고 있는 본질적 특성을 제대로 드러낼 수 있는 종합적인 판단을 내리기 어려운 작품으로 취급되었고, 그러한 현상은 현재까지도 계속되고 있다.
‘만전춘별사’에 대한 이해와 연구를 어렵게 만드는 주된 원인이 무엇인지를 파악하는 것은 이 문제를 해결하기 위한 핵심이라고 할 수 있는데, 그것은 바로 작품의 명칭에 대해 정확하고 올바른 해석을 시도함으로써 내용과 형식이 가지는 일관성과 통일성을 밝혀내기 위한 출발점으로 삼는 것이라고 할 수 있다. 명칭은 대상의 본질을 함축적이면서도 종합적으로 담아내고 있는 것이므로 이것을 통해 대상의 본질적 성격을 가장 정확하게 밝혀낼 수 있을 것으로 판단되기 때문이다. 이러한 생각을 바탕으로 본 논문에서는 ‘만전춘별사’의 내용과 형식에 가장 잘 부합하는 측면에서 명칭에 대한 해석을 시도함으로써 작품의 문학적 성격을 올바르게 파악할 수 있도록 연구의 방향을 잡았다. ‘사랑의 종말에 대한 노래’라는 뜻으로 해석할 수 있는 ‘만전춘별사’는 중국 송(宋)나라 때 성행한 사(詞)문학에 기반을 두면서도 음악성을 배재한 시문학의 양식으로 새롭게 만들어진 것으로 첫째, 두 개의 장(章)이 마주보는 대련(對聯)의 형식, 둘째, 동일한 형태의 행(行)을 반복하는 형식, 셋째, 장의 마지막 구절(句節)을 반복하는 형식, 넷째, 사랑이 끝남을 알리는 징조, 사랑이 끝나는 순간, 사랑이 끝난 후의 상태를 소재로 한 화자의 정서를 표출하는 내용 등의 특성을 가지는 노래임을 밝혀낼 수 있었다.
‘만전춘별사’에 대한 이러한 연구는 작품이 지니고 있는 문학적 특성을 체계적이면서도 구체적으로 드러낼 수 있도록 함으로써 민족의 노래인 속요(俗謠)가 간직하고 있는 예술적 아름다움을 한층 분명하게 밝혀내는 밑거름이 될 수 있을 것으로 기대해 본다.

영어초록

Although ‘Manjeonchunbeolsa’ has a very specific form and content as a classical poetry, there has not been much discussion of ‘Manjeonchunbeolsa’ regarding its characteristics of content or form.
There are several reasons. Firstly, failure to truly understand of the meaning of the name of ‘Manjeonchunbeolsa’, secondly, failure to properly figure out the formal unity of ‘Manjoenchunbeolsa’, and thirdly, there is the failure to find out the coherence of the content.
The poor interpretation of the meaning of the name of ‘Manjoenchunbeolsa’ led to the failure to find out connection between ‘Manjoenchunbeolsa’ and its content and this condition resulted in difficulty to find out the coherence of the content. Therefore, eventually there was a difficulty to understand the whole interpretation or understanding of ‘Manjeonchunbeolsa’. In addition, it was not easy to find out its structural unity because the form of ‘Manjoenchunbeolsa’ shows noticeable difference with the form of general literature which has an identical conformation and regular and repetitive pattern.
Thus, ‘Manjoenchunbeolsa’ has been continuously treated as difficult literacy work to make a comprehensive interpretation through its unique characteristics.
To address this issue, it is key point to find out the main cause that make it difficult to study and understand about ‘Manjoenchunbeolsa’.
It is as a starting point for finding out the consistency and unity of form and content through attempting to right interpretation about the name of literature.
As name of the literature includes the nature of the subject implicatively and comprehensively it is considered that an intrinsic attribute of the subject could be figured out through the name of the ‘Manjoenchunbeolsa’.
Based on these ideas, this paper will attempt to interpret the name of the ‘Manjoenchunbeolsa’ by considering its content and form in order to properly understand about the characteristics of literacy writing.
‘Manjoenchunbeolsa’ can be construed as ‘the song for the end of love’. It is based on ‘SA’ literature in the ‘song’ dynasty and is made in the form of poetic literature regardless of musicality. Firstly, the two chapters are composed of distich format and secondly, there is a format that a row of identical conformation is repeated. Thirdly, there is a format that the last phrase is repeated. Fourthly, it can be found that some characteristics of the poetry are based on an expression of narrator's feeling about the sign, the moment and after the ending of love.
This study about ‘Manjoenchunbeolsa’ can reveal its own literary characteristics via systemic and specific ways. Thus, this study about ‘Manjoenchunbeolsa’ is expected to become a good stepping stone to discover the artistic beauty of Sok-yo.
