초록

비록 최근 한국 신학계가 몰트만의 정치신학에 대해 대체로 무관심하지만, 몰트만의 신학은 철저히 정치신학적이다. 그의 초기는 물론이고 후기까지 몰트만은 정치신학적 관점을 철저히 유지한다. 몰트만의 정치신학은 “아우슈비츠 이후”에 제기된 사적이고 이원론적인 기독교 신앙 전통들을 극복하고자 애쓴다. 또한 몰트만의 정치신학은 칼 슈미트의 옛정치신학에 대립적인 특징을 갖는데, “누구든지 저항권을 요구하는 자가 자유롭다”는 기본 명제를 주장한다.
몰트만은 자신의 정치신학의 저항 개념을 다음과 같은 다섯 가지로 제시한다. 첫 번째는 정치적 저항으로서 정치적 압제에 저항하는 인간 존엄성을 위한 투쟁이다. 정치적 저항은 정치적 압제에 저항하는 인간 존엄성의 추구라고 구체화될 수 있으며, 이러한 인간 존엄성으로서의 인권을 침해하는 불의한 어떠한 통치에 대해서도 국민은 저항해야 한다고몰트만은 강조한다.
두 번째는 인간 착취에 저항하는 경제적 정의를 위한 투쟁으로서 경제적 저항이다. 몰트만은 경제적 불평등을 계속해서 야기하는 자유시장경제체제의 희생자들을 주목하는데, 잘못된 경제 질서를 바로잡기 위해빈곤에 저항하는 경제적 정의는 중요하다고 강조한다. 몰트만은 예외적으로 “제1세계”신학자이면서 “제3세계”의 해방을 위한 “제1세계”의 착취에 대해 저항하는 정치신학을 주장한다.
세 번째는 각종 차별에 저항하는 연대를 위한 투쟁으로서 사회적 저항이다. 몰트만의 정치신학은 고난당하는 여성들의 해방을 위해 성차별에대한 저항 운동을 제시한다. 무엇보다 하나의 정치신학으로서 여성신학은 단순히 여성들의 해방만을 위한 것은 아니며 궁극적으로는 자유의종교에 대한 문제를 다룬다고 몰트만은 생각한다.
네 번째는 개인의 무관심한 삶에 저항하는 확신을 위한 투쟁으로서 문화적 저항이다. 이른바 “영성”추구와는 달리, 참된 신앙은 삶의 역동성을 추구하게 하며 삶에 대한 사랑을 갖게 한다. 이 삶에 대한 사랑은 죽음에 대항하는 삶을 인도한다. 이를 위해서는 거듭남에서 나오는 확신이 필요한데, 기독교 신앙은 “민중의 아편”이 아니라 절망과 무관심의현대 문화에 대항하게끔 만든다.
다섯 번째는 자연 파괴에 저항하는 생태학적 평화 운동으로서 생태학적저항이다. 현대의 “생태학적 위기”를 초래한 인간중심주의에 대해 기독교의 창조신앙은 어느 정도 책임을 지고 있지만, “땅의 정복”(창 1장 28 절)에 대한 명령은 자연에 대한 인간의 정복이 아니라 인간의 자연 보호로 받아들여져야 한다. 또한 “하나님의 형상”(창 1장 27절)은 과거 인간중심주의적 해석과는 달리, 하나님에 대한 경외와 “생명에 대한 경외”로나아가야 한다고 몰트만은 주장한다.
몰트만의 정치신학은 하나님의 나라를 위한 공적인 정의를 추구하며“부정적인 것들의 부정”을 외치는 개혁적인 신학이라는 점에서 계속해서 연구되어야 한다. 특별히 하나님의 주권을 하나님의 자기 제한과 고난에서 찾는 몰트만의 정치신학은 한국교회가 한국 사회를 낮은 자세로섬기도록 인도하는 신학적 통찰을 제공한다는 점에서 더욱 주목받아야한다.

영어초록

Although the Korean theological community is generally indifferent to Moltmann's political theology recently, his theology is thoroughly political theology. From his early days to his later years, Moltmann thoroughly maintains his political theological views. His political theology seeks to overcome the private and dualistic Christian faith traditions raised in “after Auschwitz.” Also, Moltmann's political theology is characterized by opposition to Carl Schmitt's old political theology, arguing the basic proposition that “That one is free who claims the right to resist.” Moltmann presents the following five concepts of resistance in his own political theology. The first is political resistance, a struggle for human dignity against the political oppression of some people by other people. Political resistance can be embodied as the pursuit of human dignity that resists political oppression and Moltmann stresses that the people should resist any unjust rule that violates human rights as human dignity.
The second is economic resistance as a struggle for economic justice against the exploitation of some people by other people. Moltmann notes the victims of the market-economy system that continues to cause economic inequality and emphasizes the importance of economic justice to resist poverty in order to correct the wrong economic order.
Moltmann is exceptionally “the first world” theologian and asserts a political theology that resists the exploitation of the “the first world” for the liberation of the “the third world.” The third is social resistance as a struggle for solidarity against all kinds of social alienation of people from people. Moltmann's political theology presents a resistance movement against sexism for the liberation of suffering women. Moreover Moltmann thinks that feminist theology as a political theology is not simply for the liberation of women, but ultimately deals with the problem of the religion of freedom.
The fourth is cultural resistance as a struggle for conviction against apathy in personal life. Unlike the so-called “spirituality” pursuit, true faith makes us pursue the dynamics of life and gives us a love for life.
This love of life guides life against death. This requires the conviction that comes from new birth, which makes the Christian faith against the modern culture of despair and indifference, not the “opium of the people.” The fifth is ecological resistance as an ecological liberation movement against the industrial destruction of nature by human beings.
While Christian belief in creation bears some responsibility for the anthropocentrism that has led to the modern “ecological crisis”, but the order for “the conquer the earth”(Gen. 1:28) should be accepted as a human nature protection, not human conquest of nature. In addition, Moltmann argues that “the image of God”(Gen. 1:27) must move forward with the awe of God and “reverence for life,” unlike the anthropocentric interpretations of the past.
Moltmann's political theology needs to be studied in continuously in that it is a reformed theology that seeks public justice for the kingdom of God and calls for “negation of the negative.” In particular, Moltmann's political theology, which seeks God's sovereignty in God's self-restrictions and suffering, deserves more attention in that it provides theological insights that lead the Korean church to serve Korean society with a low attitude.
