배우에 대한 생성존재론적 해명 (Becoming-Ontologic interpretation of Actor)

초록

재현 연극은 무엇보다 말과 언어, 곧 텍스트에 종속된 연극이다. 여기서 중심은 텍스트를 쓰는 작가이다. 연출가는 텍스트에 기록된 작가의 의도를 충실히 따라 무대 위에 이를 형상화해야 한다. 그리고 배우는 다시 그런 연출가의 지시를 실현하기 위해 연기해야 한다. 하지만, 텍스트 중심의 문학적 연극에서 벗어나, 희극 작가가 부여한 의미를 재현하는 데 그치는 연극이 아니라, 스스로 새로운 의미를 생성하는 예술로서의 연극은 신체적인 활동으로서의 연기술에 관한 새로운 이해를 요구한다.
그런데 인류 역사에서 가장 큰 두 번의 문명 변동기에 신체와 직접적으로 관련된 흥미로운 철학적 개념이 등장했다. 데카르트와 들뢰즈(와 가타리)가 각각 내세운 상반되는 기계 개념이 그것이다. 데카르트 철학에서 보이는 정신과 신체의 종속 관계는 문학적 연극에서의 작가 혹은 연출가와 배우의 관계와 닮았다. 작가와 연출가는 배우들의 배후에서 그들을 조정하는 주체로 등장한다. 동시대 연극에서는 배우의 신체가 가진 잠재적 능력에 주목하는데, “그것은 바로 기동력 있고 끊임없이 움직이는 육체의 특수한 물질성이며, 이를 통해 배우의 행위는 관객의 육체에 직접 영향을 끼치며, 관객에게 ‘전염’된다.
그로토프스키는 부정의 연기술을 통해 문명에 의해 포획되기 이전의 신체로 돌아가려고 했고, 여기서 중요한 것은 신체를 통해 꿈틀대는 자연의 힘, 생명이다. 들뢰즈의 신체론을 따를 경우, 배우의 신체는 현실적 층위와 잠재적 층위로 이루어져 있고, 두 차원의 신체는 다르게 작동한다. 그런데 들뢰즈는 잠재적 층위의 신체를 ‘기관 없는 신체’라 부르는데, 이 개념은 아르토에게서 빌려 온 개념이다. 들뢰즈-아르토의 기관 없는 신체, 곧 유기적 조직화에 저항하는 신체는 유기체의 고착된 상태로부터 탈주해 생성과 변화의 장으로 나아가고자 한다는 점에서, 그로토프스키-메를로 퐁티의 신체와 함께 동시대 연극에서 신체가 함축하고 있는 의미를 가장 또렷하게 보여준다. 아르토는 극심한 정신분열적 환자였지만, 환자는 자신이라기보다는 특정한 습관, 특정한 하나의 삶의 방식에 사로잡혀 사는 모든 사람이라고 생각했다. 그리고 연극이란 그런 낡은 습속에 길든 사람들의 감각을 바꾸고 신체적 리듬을 바꾸고, 더 나아가 삶 자체를 바꾸는 것이어야 한다고 보았다.
사람의 신체는 여타의 다른 신체들보다 훨씬 유연하게 배치의 안과 밖을 오가며 탈영토화 운동을 한다. 그러니 우리가 우선 고려해야 할 것은 사람의 신체이고, 그중에서도 단연 배우의 신체일 것이다. 배우야말로 변신의 귀재이기 때문이다. 기실, 공연 중에 배우는 트랜스포머가 된다. 들뢰즈의 용어법으로 말하면 배우는 괴물이라고 볼 수 있다. 들뢰즈의 기계 개념을 가장 상징적으로 대변하고 있는 ‘체’가 바로 배우-신체라는 말이다.
공연에서 배우의 신체는 다른 신체와 관계를 맺는다. 그것은 신체들 사이를 오가면서 감성의 변화와 지성의 확장을 야기하고, 그럼으로써 주체의 변화를 추동하고, 더 나아가 삶의 새로운 가능성을 찾기 위한 필사의 탈주선을 그린다.

Theater of representation is, above all, words and language. This is a Theater subordinated to the text. Here, the focus is the writer who writes text. The director must be faithful to the writer's intention written in text. The director should visualize it on stage. And the actor must act to express the director's instructions. However, a text-oriented literary play, It's not a play that representation the meaning given by the dramaturge, It is a play as an art that a new meaning becoming by itself. It is necessary that new understanding of acting skills as a body activity However, there were two major cultural upheavals in human history. At this time, an interesting philosophical concept directly related to the body emerged. These are opposing machine concepts which were proposed by Descartes and Deleuze(and Guattari), The subordinate relationship between the mind and the body seen in Descartes philosophy resembles the relationship between the writer or director and actor in a literature theater. The writer and director appear behind the actors as the subjects who control them. In contemporary play, they pay attention to the virtuality ability of the actor. "It is the special materiality of the body of motivated and constantly moving. In this way, the actor's actions directly affect the audience's body and permeate them.
Grotowski tried to return to his body before being captured by civilization through negative acting skill. Here and now, what’s important is the power of nature wriggling through the body, in other words is the life. According to Deleuze's body theory, the actor's body consists of an actuality layer and a virtuality layer. Thus, the two-dimensions of the body work differently. However, Deleuze calls the body of the virtuality layer a 'body without organ'. This concept was taken from Artaud. Deleuze-Artaud's body without organ, In other words, the body that resists organic organization tries to escape of the fixed state of the organism and move on to the field of creation and change In this respect, it most clearly shows the implications of body in contemporary theater with the body of Grotowski-Merleau-Ponty. Artaud was a severely schizophrenic. However he thought that the schizophrenic was not just himself, but everyone who was obsessed with a particular habit, one particular way of life. And a theater changes the senses and bodily rhythms of those who are accustomed to old habits. Furthermore, he thought that a play would change lives itself. The human body moves in and out of the arrangement much more flexibly than any other body and does a deterritorialization movement. Thus, the first thing we should consider is the human body. Among them, it is definitely the body of an actor. This is because actors are the masters of transformation. In reality, during the performance, the actor becomes a Transformer. In Deleuze's terminology, Actors can be seen as monsters. The most symbolic representation a ‘body’ of Deleuze’s concept of machine is actor-body.
In a performance, an actor's body has a relationship with other bodies. It causes changes in sensibility and expansion of intelligence by going back and forth between bodies. Through this, it encourages the subject to change and furthermore draws an line of escape to find new possibilities in life.
