장애 관련 아동서사문학에 나타나는 윤리성과 전복의 상상력 (The Ethicality and Revolutionary Imagination of Children’s Literature Related with Disability)

초록

본고의 목적은 2000년대의 장애 관련 아동서사문학 텍스트를 분석하여 아동과장애아동을 비롯한 타자에 대한 성인작가의 윤리와 전복의 상상력을 타자윤리적관점에서 탐색하는 데에 있다.
장애아동인물들과 비장애인물들의 갈등은 장애아동인물이 자신의 욕망, 즉 욕망을 통한 자신의 물질성을 발화하는 순간 발생한다. 우선 장애아동인물과 비장애인물의 갈등이 크지 않은 텍스트에서는 장애아동인물이 비장애성인인물이 예상할 수 있는 대상으로 존재하는 경우가 많다. 특히 장애아동인물의 성격이 선한것으로 평가될 때 갈등 상황은 발생하지 않는다. 즉, 장애아동인물의 주체적 욕망이 드러나지 않는 텍스트, 혹은 성인인물들에 의해 용인되는 것만 욕망하는 장애아동인물이 드러나는 텍스트에서 갈등은 훨씬 수월하게 봉합되고, 작가들이 추구하는 ‘선’은 아동독자들에게 분명하게 전달된다. 이 경우 ‘비장애아동은 장애아동에 대한 편견을 없앰으로써 그들에 대한 부정적 감정을 누그러뜨려야 하고 그들의 장애를 긍정적으로 인식해야 한다’는 것은 ‘선’의 내용, 즉 작품의 윤리적 주제가 된다. 그리고 이는 장애아동은 선한 아이들이며 이 특성은 불변한다는 것을 전제로 한다.
이와 달리 성인인물이 가져도 좋다고 인정한 범위 너머를 욕망하는 장애아동 인물은 갈등을 불러온다. 이러한 인물이 중심이 되는 텍스트에서 장애아동인물의 욕망은 비장애인물들의 욕망과 상충하고 장애아동인물은 비장애인물들에게 불편을 끼친다. 이 경우 갈등은 쉽게 봉합되지 않고, 장애아동인물을 비롯한 여러인물들 사이의 소통이 갈등해결의 필수적인 요소가 된다. 이러한 텍스트는 장애아동을 성인의 이념으로 완전히 파악할 수 없음을 보여주는 것으로 장애아동의타자성과 욕망을 인정하는 것이라 볼 수 있다. 이러한 텍스트에서 갈등은 더 자주발생하고 그 해결과정도 단순하지 않기에 결말은 쉽게 주어지지 않는다. 그러나주체는 타자를 투명한 대상으로 여기지 않으며, 타자의 물질성을 인지하기에 윤리적 관계인 사귐이 발생한다. 또한 주체와 타자가 얼굴과 얼굴로 만날 때, 주체가 타자의 물질성을 마주했을 때 비로소 주체의 현재를 바꾸는 미래도 가능해진다. 이처럼 현 사회 주체-비장애성인-의 지식으로 환원되지 않는 욕망하는 타자-아동, 장애아동-의 등장은 문학의 윤리를 담지한다.

영어초록

The purpose of this study is to analyze the texts and to explore the Ethicality and Revolutionary Imagination of Children’s Literature Related with Disability in the 2000s. In order to do this, I study the materiality of the Others and the conflicts between the characters in the texts.
The conflict between the characters occurs when the disabled character starts to express his or her materiality through his(her) own desire. In the texts that the conflict between characters is not serious, the disabled character tends to be predictable by the non-disabled or the adult characters. When the personality of the disabled character is evaluated as good, conflicts do not occur especially. In the texts that the disabled character’s desire is not revealed, the conflict is resolved more easily and writers can pursue their ethic clearly to children readers. In theses texts, it is a subject of the texts that Non-disabled children should relieve their negative feelings toward disabled children by eliminating prejudice against them and be aware of their disability positively. This assumes that the disabled are good children and this is invariable. In 『Minwoo, you can do it』and 『The pianist with four fingures』, disabled characters do not make conflicts with non-disabled and adult characters, even though they reveal their desires. The desire of Disabled characters is revealed without conflict and supported by the adult characters because that desire is allowed by the adult characters.
On the other hand, Sua and Jae-hyun of 『It’s a little different from me』and 『Byuki』make conflicts by desiring what is not allowed by the adult characters and doing that the adult characters can not accept. In this texts, the conflict is not resolved easily and communication is the essential ingredients for solution of conflict. So, the communication process is a ethic.
Ethics is based on understanding of the human being, so we should understand disable person is a being that has their own desire and materiality. Positive perceptions about disabled persons is not important than we recognize that disabled persons is the Subject that have their desire and materiality. Ethic is perceiving the conflict as a matter of the Subject and the Subject of human society and opening the communication possibility. So, the texts that is revealed the disabled person’s desire and materiality mean a lot to Korean children’s literature because that express ethic of communication and the communication possibility.
