동북아시아 초기 쪽구들의 발생과 전개 (A Study on Occurrence & Development of Early Ondol in the Northeast Asia)

초록

본고는 동북아시아 초기 쪽구들의 발생과 전개과정에 대한 기존의 견해를 재검토하고자 작성되었다. 초기 쪽구들 발생에 대한 학계의 인식은 압록강 중하류지역, 중국 동북지방, 한・중・러 국경지역 등 어느 한 지역에서 발생하여 주변지역으로 확산된 것으로 보고 있으나, 검토결과 출현기 초기 쪽구들은 지역단위로 평면형태, 고래 수, 축조재료 등이 다르고 주거지의 평면형태도 차이가 있다. 출현시점도 대략 기원전 3세기경으로 추정되므로, 여러 지역에서 동시다발적으로 발생한 것으로 보았다.
동북아시아의 초기 쪽구들을 몇 가지의 구조속성으로 형식분류하여 시간성을 파악하는 기존의 연구에대한 문제점을 지적하고, 초기 쪽구들의 계통과 지역성을 보여주는 주거지 평면형태와 고래부 길이를 기준으로 3가지 유형으로 구분하였다. 즉 A1류는 (장)방형주거지에 고래부 길이가 짧게 축조된 유형이며한반도 서북한지역과 압록강 중류지역에서 확인된다. A2류 역시 (장)방형주거지에 시설되는 점은 A1류와 공통되나 고래부 길이가 길고 주거 벽 한 면 또는 여러 면 전체를 감싸는 형식이며, 한・중・러 국경지역과 자바이칼 지역 등에서 확인되고 있다. B류는 원형주거지에 축조되어 고래부가 弧狀을 띠는 형식이다.
마지막으로 한반도 중・남부지역의 쪽구들의 계보에 대해서는 쪽구들의 구조와 토기문화를 함께 고찰하여, 남부지역에는 동북아시아 쪽구들 B류가 확산된 것으로 보았고, 중부지방에는 동북아시아 쪽구들A2류가 영향을 주었음을 확인할 수 있었다.

영어초록

This study is aimed at re-examining the existing opinion about the occurrence and developmental process of the early ondol in the Northeast Asia. Academic circles’ perception of ondol occurrence is that it came out at a certain area, such as the border the mid-downstream area of the Yalu River, Korea, north-eastern district of China, , and the border area between Korea, Russia and China, and spread to its neighboring areas; however, examination results show that the early ondol differs in plane shape, numbers of flues of a hypocaust, materials of construction, and even the plane shape of a shelter according to a regional unit, and the time of its appearance is estimated to be around the 3th century B.C; hereupon, this study judged that ondol came out simultaneously in many areas.
This study pointed out problems in the existing research which has the tendency to grasp temporality by doing form classification of the early ondol through several sorts of structure attributes, and classified the early ondol into 3 sorts of types on the basis of the plane form of a dwelling and length of the flue part of a hypocaust which show the genealogy and regionality of the early ondol.
In short, A1 class is identified in the northwestern district of the Korean Peninsula and the midstream district of the Yalu River, together with a short form of the flue part of a hypocaust in a square(rectangular)dwelling; in case of A2 class, the fact that it was installed in a square(rectangular)dwelling is common with A1 class, but the flue part of A2 class ondol is longer than A1 class, and envelops the whole of a facet of the dwelling walls; in addition, it is identified at the border area between Korea, Russia and China. B class was built in a circular dwelling, having the bent form of a flue part of a hypocaust.
Lastly, as for the genealogy of the ondol in the central-southern districts of the Korean Peninsula, this study judged B class ondol in the far eastern district spread to the souther district through consideration of both structure of ondol and earthenware culture, and also this study could identify that A2 class ondol in the far eastern district had an influence on the central district.
