초록

Purpose: After China went through an urban development process that produced a uniform appearance of large cities since 1990s, it took change in the direction of complex planning and started to consider a demand for a residential environment based on the concept 'Humans are the core' which emphasizes human residence, life, acton and regulation, as well as the improvement of residential types. This study analyzes architectural characteristics of housing complexes which reflects social cohesion of neighbors suggested and realized by Steven Holl through ‘Linked-Hybrid’ developed in Beijing, China and if focuses on common space and unit plan from the aspect of visual structures. Method: This study concentrates on Linked Hybrid located in Beijing. It investigates the characteristics of common space within the Linked Hybrid complex, the arrangement of each ward and the composition of housing units in each building and it analyzes architectural characteristics based on the investigation from the aspect of visual structure by using space syntax. Results: The result of this study showed that induces random communications between residents in unit plans or both internal and external common space. His bold interpretation and architectural attempts in relationships in family and between neighbors have become important stimulation in the planning of housing complexes in China. The progression of Steven Holl's experimental multi-family residential buildings will stimulate a new measure for inflexible urban landscape or residential space and it will be able to realize the publicness of housing complex.
