말더듬 성인과 정상 성인 간의 하이베타파 발생 비교에 관한 기초 연구 (A Comparison Study of Hi-beta Wave Occurrence between Stuttering and Normal Adult)

초록

말더듬 성인은 반복, 연장 및 막힘과 같은 비유창한 구어뿐만 아니라 말과 관련된 두려움, 불안, 공포 등의 심리적 문제도 많이 겪게 되는데, 이러한 심리적 문제들이 말더듬을 더욱 악화시키는 또 다른 요인이 된다. 이 연구는 불안, 공포 등을 느낄 때 발생되는 것으로 알려진 하이베타파의 발생과 관련하여 말더듬 성인을 대상으로 말 관련 과업 수행 시 뇌의 F3와 C5 영역에서의 하이베타파 발생 비율과 전압을 알아보고자 하였다. 말더듬 정도가 중도 이상인 말더듬 성인 5명과 정상 성인 5명을 대상으로 수세기 및 대화상황에서 QEEG KNF-101 SYSTEM 장비를 이용하여 하이베타파의 발생비율과 전압을 분석하였다. 연구 결과, 첫째 수 세기 및 대화 상황에서 말더듬 성인과 정상 성인의 F3와 C5 영역에서 하이베타파 발생비율에 각각 유의한 차이가 없었다. 둘째, 두 집단 간 수세기에서 하이베타파의 발생 전압은 F3 영역에서 유의한 차이가 있었고(p<.01), C5 영역에서는 유의한 차이가 없었다. 대화 과업 시 F3와 C5 영역에서 각각 유의한 차이가 있었다(p<.01, p<.05). 이러한 결과는 말더듬 성인은 정상 성인에 비해 말과 관련하여 두려움, 불안, 공포 등과 같은 심리적 부담의 정도가 큰 것으로 사료된다.

영어초록

We attempted a comparison of brain wave characteristics between the F3 area and the C5 area in two groups (stuttering and normal group) through electroencephalogram. We then compared only high-beta waves related to stress among brain wave ranges. The subjects selected included five stuttering adults with moderate-level stuttering diagnosed by Paradise-Fluency Assessment, and five normal adults who self-evaluated themselves as being free from stuttering problems by their own judgment, and who were free from fluency disorders by my professional judgment. A day between September 20, 2008 and September 30, 2008 was selected to test subjects' brains individually using the Korea Neurofeedback Institute's QEEG KNF-101 SYSTEM as the test tool. In electrode attaching spots of intss ational 10-20 system, Active 1 electrode was attached to the F3 area, Active 2 electrode to the C5 area, Reference Electrode to the A1 area, and Common Electrode to A2 area. Brain waves were measured for three minutes, including one minute while counting and two minutes while talking. The Korea Neurofeedback Institute analyze the data in the following ways: 1) by laying stress on the incidence of high-beta waves and electric pressure, 2) by using the analysis base program (Qeeg KNF-101s), 3) by domain mapping program, and 4) by using a filtering software system program. Statistical analysis was conducted by independent t-tests.
The the findings of the study are as follows. First, in the F3 and the C5 areas of stuttering adults and normal adults, the incidence of high-beta waves while counting or talking showed no statistically significant differences. Second, the electric pressure of high-beta waves in the F3 area showed a significant difference. Stuttering adults showed an average of 8.10㎶, while normal adults showed an average of 6.04㎶. The C5 area showed insignificant differences. In the talking state, the F3 and C5 areas both showed considerable differences. In the F3 area, stuttering adults showed an average of 13.20㎶, while normal adults averaged 6.48㎶. The difference of which is more than double. In the C5 area, stuttering adults showed an average of 32.12㎶, while normal adults averaged 8.58㎶, the difference of which is more than quadruple.
The item which showed the greatest difference between the two groups was the electric pressure of high-beta waves in the area of language and motor while talking. This finding indicates that as the burden of expressing something becomes heavier, the stress at the stuttering adult's brain area related to language and motor also increases compared to normal adults.
