성격유형과 의사소통 역량 그리고 악성댓글 ‒한국과 일본 MZ세대 SNS 이용자 간 비교 연구‒ (Personality Type, Communication Competence, and Malicious Comment -An exploratory approach focusing on comparison between Korean and Japanese MZ generation in SNS users-)

초록

본 연구는 온라인 상호작용에서 사회적 문제로 거론되는 악성댓글 태도에 미치는 성격유형과 의사소통 역량의 영향 관계를 실증적으로 탐구한 것이다. 악성댓글의 발생적 기반으로 작용하는 사회문화적 요인과 그 특성을 반영하기 위해 한국과 일본 20대 MZ세대 간 비교 연구를 수행했다. 편의적 표본추출에 따라 한국과 일본 MZ세대 SNS 이용자 236명을 대상으로 대면 및 온라인 조사를 통해 자료를 수집했으며, 자료의 분석 결과는 다음의 몇 가지로 요약할 수 있었다. 먼저, 의사소통 역량(자기표현력･비판사고력)은 SNS 이용자의 성격유형과 높은 관련성이 있는 것으로 나타났다. 구체적으로, 메시지 발신자 역량인 자기표현력에는 일본 MZ세대(외향성, 신경증)보다 한국 MZ세대(개방성, 외향성, 성실성, 신경증) 이용자에게 미치는 성격유형의 영향력이 광범위하게 나타났다. 또한 메시지 수신자 역량인 비판사고력에 대해서도 일본 MZ세대(개방성, 친화성, 성실성)보다는 한국 MZ세대(개방성, 친화성, 성실성, 신경증) 이용자에 미치는 성격유형의 영향력이 폭넓게 나타났다. 다음으로, 악성댓글 태도에 미치는 영향력은 자기표현력보다는 비판사고력의 영향력이 훨씬 강력했으며, 이러한 영향력은 한국과 일본의 MZ세대 이용자 모두에서 공통적인 것으로 나타났다. 연구는 SNS 상의 악성댓글의 문제에 대한 관리와 통제를 위해서는 이용자의 비판사고력, 즉 다른 사람의 메시지를 얼마나 사려 깊게 받아들일 수 있느냐의 문제와 밀접한 관련성이 있음을 추론할 수 있었다. 비판사고력의 중요성에 기반하여 이 연구의 함의를 ‘경청의 재발견’으로 집약하고, 경청 기반 의사소통의 선순환을 감안한 미디어 리터러시 교육의 제도적, 정책적 중요성을 강변했다.

영어초록

This study empirically investigated the relationship between personality types and communication competency on malicious comment attitude, which is mentioned as a social problem in online interaction. In order to reflect the socio-cultural factors and characteristics that act as the basis for the occurrence of malicious comments, a comparative study was conducted between the MZ generation in Korea and Japan in their 20s. According to the convenient sampling method, data was collected through face-to-face and online surveys of 236 SNS users of the MZ generation in Korea and Japan, and the results of the analysis of the data could be summarized as followings. First, it was found that communication competency (self-expression, critical thinking ability) was highly related to the personality type of SNS users. Specifically, the influence of personality types on the user of the Korean MZ generation (openness, extroversion, sincerity, neuroticism) was more widespread than that of the Japanese MZ generation (extroversioin, neuroticism). In addition, the influence of personality types on the user of the Korean MZ generation (openness, agreeableness, sincerity, and neuroticism) was more widespread than that of the Japanese MZ generation (openness, agreeableness, sincerity), in terms of critical thinking ability, which is the capacity of message recipients. Next, the influence on malicious comment attitudes was much stronger than self-expression, and this influence was found to be common among both Korean and Japanese MZ generation users. The study was able to infer that the management and control of the problem of malicious comments on SNS is strongly related to the user's critical thinking ability, that is, how thoughtfully they can accept other people's messages. Based on the importance of critical thinking ability, the implications of this study were summarized as “rediscovering listening" and emphasized the institutional and policy importance of media literacy education in consideration of the virtuous cycle of listening-based communication.
