인터넷의 매개적 상호작용으로서의 댓글의 찬성과 반대에 대한 분석 (An Analysis on the Pros and Cons Presented in the Responses of Replies as Intermediated Interaction of the Internet)

초록

이 글은 인터넷에서의 댓글의 폭력성에 대한 분석의 후속 연구로서 폭력적인댓글에 대한 찬성 혹은 반대라는 공감정도를 조사 분석한 것이다. 인터넷의 기술적 환경이 상호작용성에 바탕을 두고 있어 댓글이 갖는 의미는 단순한 의견달기이상의 저널리즘적 성격을 갖고 있다. 댓글은 사람들의 활발한 의견을 개진한다는측면에서 긍정적인 면도 있지만, 비대면적 익명성에 근거한 글쓰기로 인해 내용의폭력성과 무책임성의 문제에서 부정적인 면도 있다. 마녀사냥식 집단적 린치를 가하는 폭력적 내용의 댓글은 사실 흔하게 볼 수 있는 현상이다. 여기서는 프랜차이즈 식당 채선당의 온라인 뉴스기사에 달린 댓글을 중심으로 연구했다. 일방적 위치에 놓인 가해자와 피해자라는 설정 속에서 한쪽에만, 즉 불의의 가해자에게만향했던 폭력적인 내용의 댓글이 쌍방에게 순차적으로 가해지는 특이한 사건이라주목되었다. 매개적 상황이 변하더라도 댓글의 폭력성은 달라지지 않고 있다는 것을 앞서 일차적 연구에서 살펴보았다. 따라서 이 글은 후속 연구로서 폭력적 내용의 댓글에 대해 찬성 / 반대 혹은 추천 / 비추천이라는 공감정도의 표시가 어떻게나타나는가를 보고자한 것이 목적이었다. 감정적인 표현이 담긴 폭력적인 내용의댓글에 대해서는 찬성보다는 반대의 신호를 보일 것이라고 가정한 연구이다. 그과정에서 댓글을 읽는 사람도 폭력적인 내용을 균형 있게 바라볼 수 있다는 기능적인 측면에서 접근코자 했다. 그러나 댓글의 폭력성에 대한 중화적인 역할로서의찬반은 전혀 무의미한 것으로 나타났으며, 댓글이 폭력적이든 아니든 공감의 방향으로 추천하는 경향을 보여, 댓글의 내용 못지않게 댓글에 대한 찬성과 반대의 공감표시에도 여론몰이식 경향이 그대로 나타나고 있음을 보이고 있었다. 댓글의 찬성과 반대라는 호응도에 있어서도 비이성적인 댓글에 훨씬 많이 나타났으며, 이는폭력적인 내용에 더 공감한다는 단순한 해석보다는 댓글의 상호작용에서 작동하는의례적 행위로서의 사회성도 일부 작용하는 것으로 해석할 수 있다.

영어초록

This study tries to explore the pros and cons presented in the responses of violent replies as a succeeding study of violence of replies in the internet news. The technological changes of the internet are based on the interaction so that the replies of the internet news contain the character of journalism more than giving simple opinion. The replies might have positive functions if the writers express the active and open public views, whereas they might have negative functions if the writer show themselves the violent and irresponsible contents. It is not unusual for us to find the violent replies like witch-hunting or massive lynching. Likewise we focus on the replies of internet news on the case of Chaeseundang, a franchise restaurant. The reason that we are interested in that case is that the case exposed the interchange of position of an assaulter and a victim in the process of development of the case.
Nevertheless, the reply writers keep having for violent expressions without concerning about the change of intermediated situations. In fact, there are many pros and cons presented in replies space under the news articles of the on-line. The previous study on online replies had been concerning about the content and the type of replies which are irrational writings including criticism, blame, and insulting remarks to the wrong-doers. It is true that the readers of internet news can have an additional understanding of the atmosphere of the news happening through replies, but most of replies showed the violent contents and distorted the opinion by group writings like witch hunting. As the following study of violence of replies, this study focuses on the analysis of responses of replies such as an expression of like /unlike or a pro / con. Even though the position of wrong doing and good doing made an exchange in the process of happening, the violent contents of replies had not changed on the replies space. We assumed that the cons or unlike would be dominant to irrational and violent replies and the readers of replies have rational and balanced views. It might be a consideration of a functional aspect of responses of replies. However, the responses of replies did not play a neutralizing role to mediate the violence of replies. Whether the replies are violent or not, the responses of replies showed a tendency to pros or likes. In other words, whether the contents of replies are rational /non-violent or irrational/violent, the reponses of replies have a tendency to expose simply the signs supporting replies. Therefore, as an intermediated process, the signs of pros and cons toward the replies have not counteract the violent replies. As a result, even though the reponses of replies showed much more expression in the irrational replies, it might not mean that they approached sympathy of violent replies but that the reponses of replies showed social character in the operation of replies as a ritual action.
