미혼모의 자녀로 성장한 중년 미혼 여성의 모래놀이치료 사례연구 (A Case Study of Sandplay Therapy of a Single Middle-Aged Woman Raised by a Single Mother)

초록

목적 본 사례연구는 미혼모의 자녀로 성장하면서 끊임없이 실존적이고 본질적인 불안을 경험해오던 중년의 여성이 모래놀이치료를통해 정신적 위기를 극복하고 한 인간으로서 진정한 자기를 찾아가는 과정을 Jung의 개성화의 관점으로 분석해보고자 한다. 또한내담자의 무의식적 원형이 모래상자 내 어떻게 구현되는지, 그 심리적 변화 양상을 확인하여 보다 깊이 있게 내담자를 이해하고 모래놀이치료의 효과를 검증하고자 한다.
방법 모래놀이치료는 주 1회 50분씩 15회기를 진행하였으며 내담자의 언어표현과 상담과정을 상세히 기록하고 연구의 신뢰성과타당성 확보를 위해 모래상자를 사진으로 기록하였다. 또한 이론을 적용하여 사례를 개념화하였고, 각 회기분석이 명확히 이루어졌는지 여부를 파악하기 위해 전문가 3인으로부터 수퍼비전을 받아 회기를 수정 및 보완해나갔다. 이와 함께 치료의 효과성을 확인하기 위한 사전/사후 검사로 집-나무-사람(HTP) 검사와 문장완성검사(SCT)를 사용하였다. 본 연구의 분석은 사례연구방법을 적용하였는데, 이는 연구대상자의 심리적 변화양상을 심도 깊게 이해하고 그 의미를 밝히기 위함이다.
결과 치료 초기에는 다소 방어적인 측면이 시사되기도 했으나 무의식을 탐색하는 과정에서 퇴행이 일어났으며, 내담자의 트라우마와 그림자, 부정적 정서 등이 드러났다. 치료 중기에는 내담자 자신의 내면에 더욱 집중하고 인정 어려웠던 감정과 욕구들이 의식화되면서 차츰 이를 수용하게 되었고 내적인 자원을 발견하였다. 치료 말기에는 성장 과정에서의 상처들과 내적 갈등이 점차 치유되고자아를 통합하여 개성화의 길을 가게 되었다.
결론 본 연구는 미혼모의 자녀로 성장한 중년 여성의 개성화 과정에 모래놀이치료가 긍정적인 가교 역할을 하는데 기여하고 역기능적 가족에서 분리-개별화의 문제를 다루는데 효과적인 것으로 해석할 수 있다는 것에 의미가 있다.

영어초록

Objectives This case study analyzed the process of Sandplay therapy of a middle-aged woman, in which she healed her psychological pain and injuries and was trying to find her real self as an independent person, from the perspective of Jung's Individuation. Being raised by a single mother, she has experienced confusion of self-identity and difficulty of attachment relationship. The purpose of the study is to deeply understand the client by examining how her unconscious archetype is embodied in the sandbox and comprehending her psychological changes in the process of Sandplay therapy.
Methods In this study, 15 sessions of sandplay therapy were performed once a week for 50 minutes, and the client's verbal expression and counseling process were recorded in detail. We photographed the sandbox to ensure the reliability and validity of this study. In addition, the theory was applied to conceptualize the case, and to determine whether each regression analysis was clearly performed, the regression was revised and supplemented with supervision from three experts. In addition, we used the house-tree-person (HTP) test and the sentence completion test (SCT) as pre/post tests to confirm the effectiveness of treatment. In the analysis of this study, the case study method was applied, in order to in-depth understanding of the psychological changes of the study subjects and to clarify their meaning.
Results In the early stage of the therapy, some defensive aspects were suggested. However, regression occurred in the process of searching for unconsciousness, and the client's trauma, shadow, and negative emotions were revealed. In the middle stage of the therapy, the client focused more on her inner side, gradually accepted the emotions and desires that were difficult to recognize, and found internal resources. At the end of the therapy, wounds and internal conflicts in the growth process were gradually healed, and the client integrated the self for the way of individuation.
Conclusions This study showed that sandplay therapy is a very useful tool to help the client, who has grown up as a child of a single mother and experienced existential, essential anxiety, overcome presently faced mental crisis and achieve individuation, a middle-aged developmental task. This allowed the client to integrate her life and live an adaptive life.
