소외 학생들이 경험한 학교에서의 삶-또래관계 소외 속 살아냄을 중심으로- (Life at school experienced by underprivileged students -Focusing on living in the alienation of peer relationships-)

초록

연구목적 본 연구는 또래관계 소외 학생들이 경험한 학교에서의 삶을 현상학적으로 분석하여 소외 속살아냄을 구체적으로 드러내고 소외 현상을 종합적으로 이해하는 데에 목적을 둔 체험연구이다.
연구방법 연구 참여자는 경기도 A시 B고등학교 3학년 재학생 중 유목적 표집과 타당성 검증을 거쳐8명을 선정하였다. 심층면담, 참여자 회고록, 소외 관련 영화 감상문을 통해 연구 참여자의 소외 경험을수집하였고 귀납적 주제 분석법을 이용하여 중심의미, 드러난 주제, 본질적 주제의 순서로 범주화가 이루어졌다. 도출된 주제는 Max van Manen이 제시한 4개의 근본적 실존체(four fundamental existentials)인신체성, 시간성, 공간성, 관계성의 차원으로 배열하여 또래관계 소외 학생의 삶을 현상학적으로 파악하였다.
연구결과 또래관계 소외 학생들이 살아내는 학교에서의 삶을 분석한 결과 총 53개의 중심의미와 20개의드러난 주제가 발견되었으며, 이를 범주화하여 최종적으로 9개의 본질적 주제를 도출하였다. 또래관계소외 학생들은 신체성 차원에서 ‘이승에서 체험한 지옥’, ‘한계상황 봉착’, ‘내몰린 외줄타기’, 시간성 차원에서 ‘고난의 뫼비우스’, ‘잃어버린 삶의 시간’, 공간성 차원에서 ‘친숙한 땅에서의 유배’, ‘갈 곳 없는낭떠러지’, 관계성 차원에서 ‘끊어진 체인’, ‘군중 속 고독’의 삶을 살아내고 있었다. 또래관계 소외는 크게잠재적 교육과정 속 또래문화와 수업 장면과 같은 정규교육과정에서 일어나고 있었다.
결론 연구결과를 바탕으로 교사의 관심과 역할에 관해 논의하였으며, 교사는 소외에 대한 종합적인 이해와더불어 예방에 중점을 두고 지속적으로 노력해야 한다는 결론을 얻을 수 있었다. 마지막으로 소외를 예방할수 있는 교사의 노력 방안을 제시하였고, 소외 관련 후속 연구를 제언하였다.

영어초록

Purpose: This study is an experiential study with the purpose of phenomenologically analyzing thelife experienced by students who are marginalized in peer relationships at school, revealing in detailhow to live in alienation, and comprehensively understanding the phenomenon of alienation.
Methods: The study participants were selected from among the 3rd grade students of B high schoolin A city, Gyeonggi-do, after nomadic sampling and validation. The experience of alienation of thestudy participants was collected through in-depth interviews, participant memoirs, and movie reviewsrelated to alienation, and categorization was made in the order of central meaning, revealed themes,and essential themes using an inductive thematic analysis method. The derived themes were arrangedin the dimensions of physicality, temporality, spatiality, and relationality, which are the four fundamentalexistentials suggested by Max van Manen, to phenomenologically grasp the lives of students alienatedfrom peer relationships.
Results: A total of 53 central meanings and 20 revealed themes were found as a result of analyzingthe lives of students living in peer-relationship marginalized schools. Finally, 9 essential themes werederived by categorizing them. In terms of physicality, students who are alienated from peer relationshipsare ‘experienced hell in this life’, ‘limited situations’, and forced to walk a tightrope. In terms oftemporality, ‘Moebius of hardship’, ‘time of lost life’, and spatial dimension ‘in a familiar land’ Hewas living the life of ‘exile’, ‘a cliff with nowhere to go’, ‘broken chain’ in terms of relationship,and ‘solitude in the crowd’. Peer-related alienation was largely occurring in the regular curriculum,such as peer culture and class scenes in the potential curriculum.
Conclusion: Based on the results of the study, the teachers' interests and roles were discussed, andit was concluded that teachers should make continuous efforts focusing on prevention as well ascomprehensive understanding of alienation. Lastly, teachers' efforts to prevent alienation were presented,and follow-up studies related to alienation were suggested.
