초록

沈遠悅(1792∼1866)은 학질에 대한 인상적인 기록인 「寢疾記」(권5)를 문집에 남겼다. 「침질기」는 총 118칙으로 구성되어 있다. 아버지인 沈魯巖(1766∼1811)의 發病부터 시작하여 투병과 臨終에 이르기까지의 과정을 일기 형태로 상세히 기록했다. 이 기록은 病錄을 첨부한 임종 일기로 보아야 한다. 「침질기」는 병세가 심각해진 6개월을 그 대상으로 했으니 임종 장례 일기 중에 가장 긴 시간과 분량을 기록한 자료 중 하나다. 학질을 치료하기 위하여 여러 명의 의원을 찾아 나서고 그들로부터 처방을 받아 이루어졌던 다양한 투약이 기록되어 있을 뿐 아니라, 환자에 대한 가족의 대응이 상세하게 적혀 있다.
내용은 당일에 있었던 일화, 담당 의원과 각종 처방, 아버지의 몸 상태 등을 주로 다루고 있다. 하루에 1-2칙을 기본으로 하고 있으나, 그날 중요한 변화가 있을 경우에는 여러 칙으로 구성하기도 했다. 당일의 기록을 적고 있지만 그 일에 대해 훗날에 느꼈던 감회를 追思, 追念, 追書 같은 형식으로 보충해 놓았다. 중간중간에 먹으로 지운 흔적이 발견되는 것으로 보아 완전히 정돈되지 않은 초고의 상태로 보인다.
등장 인물은 심노숭, 심노암 형제와 심원열 그리고 의원 등으로 한정했다. 통상 내방객들을 다루는 다른 기록들과 달리 「침질기」에서는 다른 인물들은 거의 등장하지 않는다. 선택과 집중을 확실히 하여 온전히 아버지 병과 관련된 일에만 중심을 두고 있다. 있었던 일들을 대화의 형식으로 구성했기 때문에 당시 상황이 생생하게 전달된다. 이런 기록의 특성상 감정을 상당히 절제해서 건조하게 기술되기 마련이지만, 「침질기」는 서정적인 면모나 위트가 드러나서 문학성 또한 뛰어나다고 볼 수 있다.
「침질기」는 어떤 기록보다 학질에 대한 상세한 기록이다. 관련된 의원과 처방들이 매우 소상히 남겨져 있어 의학적으로도 매우 중요한 자료라 할 수 있다. 투약에 대한 기록은 훗날 처방의 근거나 중복 투약을 막기 위해서 필요한 조치로 보인다. 이러한 객관적인 기록도 의미가 있지만 무엇보다 인상적이었던 것은 환자 본인과 환자 가족들의 대처와 반응이었다. 심노숭과 심노암의 우애는 익히 알려져 있었지만 「침질기」에서 두 사람의 형제애를 다시금 자세히 확인할 수 있다. 아들은 아버지의 병세가 심각해질수록 안타까워하고 스스로 자책했다. 아버지는 어느 순간부터 자신에게 일어날 죽음이란 사건을 인정하고 자신의 부재 속에 남겨질 아들에 대한 안쓰러움을 드러낸다. 부자가 죽음이란 사건을 함께 앞에 두고 환자와 가족의 입장에서 고군분투하는 모습이 매우 인상적인 작품이다.

Shim Won-yeol(1792-1866) wrote "Chimjilgi" (Volume 5), an impressive record of the quality of the school. The Chimjilgi consists of a total of 118 rules. Since the things that happened were organized in the form of dialogue, the situation at the time is vividly conveyed. Due to the nature of these records, emotions are often restrained and described in a dry manner, but "Darkness" is also excellent in literature because of its lyrical aspect and wit.
Bedroom is a more detailed record of the quality of the crane than any other record. Related clinics and prescriptions are left in great detail, so it can be said to be very important medically. Records of medication appear to be necessary to prevent future prescription grounds or duplicate medication. These objective records are also meaningful, but most impressive of all was the response and response of the patient himself and the patient's family. The friendship between Shim No-sung and Shim No-am was well known, but you can check the brotherly love between the two in detail in "Chimjilgi." The son felt sorry and blamed himself as his father's condition became more serious. At some point, the father admits the death that will happen to him and shows pity for his son who will be left in his absence. It is a very impressive work to see the father and son struggling from the perspective of patients and their families in front of the death incident together.
