초록

Saihonohito, the last work of Akutakawa Rhyeunoske, is condensed into poetic words like metaphor, paradox, symbols, etc. And so it caused misunderstandings to the then literary circles dominated by naturalism. When he pointed out that 'divinity of the next generation was trying to interpret the paradox without considering the poetic'(20.Jehovah) and 'all of the naturalist are dissecting the fact of life like a cruel surgeon'(35.the Resurrection), Akutakawa criticized the fabrication and inconsistency of naturalism stuck to just realistic description and scientific logic. Particularly the word,「3. Holy Spirit」- 「Something trying to transcend forever」 caused such misunderstandings. Although 'Holy Spirit' generally means 'holiness' or 'truth' in the Christian terms, Akutakawa explained the word as 'only 「something trying to transcend forever」'. It was his attempt to avoid lies and contamination of the society in which the truth was inverted, and <the progressive form which lacks object> of the word explains exactly even the ambiguity itself as a universal truth. Therefore Saihonohito was an accusation against the society occupied with distorted naturalism through the truth of Jesus life. However the inversion of truth is not only the problem of the past. Even nowadays, though modernism and surrealism became common ideas after the collapse of naturalism, most of criticisms in Akutakawa' literature incline to prejudice or take a superficial view of things. It is the result that the theory of the Establishment in the past was followed up to today.
