‘사회적인 것’의 문제 설정에 대한 한 설명: 선험적인 것-경험적인 것-실천적인 것의 삼각 구도를 중심으로 (An Explanation for the Problematique of ‘the Social’: Focused on the Triangularity of the A Priori - the Empirical - the Practical)

초록

이 글은 ‘사회적인 것’을 고전 사회이론 이후 작동해온 활동적 문제 설정으로서, 그리고 근대인의 실존적 문제 제기로서 해명하려는 하나의 시도이다. 사회적인 것의 문제 설정을 선험적인 것-경험적인 것-실천적인 것의 삼각 구도로 포착하고, 그 삼각구도가 자기 지시성과 역설, 그리고 역설 해소의 잠재력을 빚어냄을 확인해보고자 했다. 선험적인 것-경험적인 것-실천적인 것의 삼각 구도는 칸트·헤겔의 주체 철학적 구도를 방향 전환하려 한 고전 사회이론에서 잘 드러나며, 사회적 것의 문제 설정을 근대의 조건과의 연관 속에서 자기 지시성과 역설의 장으로 드러낸다는 점에서 구조-행위의 이분법적 틀을 능가한다.
이 역설의 구조를 탐사하고자 푸코의 ‘유한성의 분석론’을 경유할 때, 실증성의 유한성이 토대의 유한성으로 변환되는 것과 경험적인 것과 선험적인 것이 상호 진동하는 것이 형이상학적 이원론에 대한 거부 속에서 심화되는 형세가 확인된다. 사회적인 것 안에서 선험적인 것은 경험적인 것으로부터 독립된 합리성의 표준으로서의 한계가 아니라, 잡다한 실천적 양상 속에 묻혀 있는 실천적 복잡성으로서의 한계로 전화된다. 우연적이고 특수한 실천들이 보편타당성의 원천이 되는 실천의 논리, 혹은 사회적 사실이이루어지는 가운데 그것을 구성하는 선험적 차원도 함께 만들어지는 과정을 명료히 보고자, 후기 비트겐슈타인의 언어놀이론과 오스틴의 화행이론을 경유하여 살폈다. 여기서 다양하고 우연적인 실천들 속에 묻혀 있는 선험적인 것은 행위의 무수한 반복을 통해 공고화된 ‘관습’으로 나타난다. 사회적인 것 속에서 선험적인 것은 주체성의 영역을 한계 짓는 타자성의 영역일뿐더러 차이와 반복 속에서 굳어짐으로써 우연성과 변화 가능성이 확장된 시간성의 차원으로 존재한다.

영어초록

This paper is an attempt to explain ‘the social’ as the active problematique operating since the classical social theory and as the existential questioning of the modern man. I attempt to grasp the problematique of the social as the form of triangularity of the a priori - the empirical - the practical, and to observe that the triangularity engenders the self-referentiality, paradox and potential for dissolution of paradox. The triangularity of the a priori - the empirical - the practical is found in the classical social theory to reorganize the arrangement of idealism of Kant and Hegel in terms of the social. And in opening vision in which the problematique of the social, related to the condition of modernity, is disclosed as a field of the self-referentiality and paradox, it exceeds the dualism of structure-act which has been the main frame to discuss problems of social theory. After exploring the paradoxical field of the social by means of passing through the analytic of finitude of Foucault’s, I find the configuration in which the finitude of positivity mutates into the finitude of ground, the oscillation between the empirical and the a priori takes place, and that moreover, this oscillating state is intensified by refusal of metaphysical dualism. The a priori in the social is transformed into the limit as the practical complexity, entangled in various practical relations, rather than the limit as the standard of rationality independent from the empirical. To examine the process in which the a priori is produced in the mid of emergence of the social fact and the logic of practice that the contingent and particular practices make the sources of the universal validity, I use the theory of language game of the latter Wittgenstein’s and speech act theory of Austin. The a priori embedded in various and contingent practices, is ascertained as convention consolidated in innumerable repetition of acts. The a priori in the social is in existence of temporality in which contingency and possibility of changes are expanded, not to mention that it exists in the domain of otherness.
