상권 및 입지요인이 미술관 관람객 수에 미치는 영향 (The Effects of Commercial Area and Locational Factors in the Number of Museum Visitors)

초록

2000년대 이후로 문화소비시장의 확대와 함께 국내 미술관은 양적·질적 성장을 하였으며, 다양한 여가시설과 경쟁하면서 관람객을 끌어들이기 위해 지속적인 변화를 거듭하고 있다. 또한, 과거와는 다른 현대사회의 개방적인 분위기와 대중들로 인해 미술관은 의미와 역할이 확대되었고 관람객들과 보다 긴밀한 관계를 구축하게 되었다. 그에 따라 오늘날의 미술관은 다각적인 역량강화가 필요하며, 전시나 교육프로그램과 같은 내부적인 콘텐츠뿐만 아니라 미술관이 입지한 지역성과 인프라 등 외부적인 영향력의 중요성도 커지고 있다. 이에 본 연구는 관람객에 영향을 미치는 요인과 관련하여 오랜 기간 동안 학술적·실무적으로 중요시되어온 미술관의 내부요인에 반해 상대적으로 저평가되어왔던 미술관의 외부요인인 상권 및 입지요인(인구·경제특성, 접근특성, 입지특성)이 미술관 관람객 수에 미치는 영향을 분석하였다. 분석 결과, 첫째, 인구·경제요인 변수 중에서 ‘1인당 소득’은 미술관의 관람객 수에 유의한 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 접근특성 변수 ‘지하철역’, ‘버스노선’은 모두 기각되었다. 셋째, 상권 및 입지특성 변수 ‘생활편의시설’과 ‘쇼핑시설’은 미술관 관람객 수에 가장 유의한 영향력을 갖는 것으로 분석되었다. 결론적으로, 오늘날의 미술관은 전시나 교육프로그램과 같은 전통적인 콘텐츠만으로는 홀로 고립된 기관으로 존립하기 힘들며, 도시의 다양한 인프라와 함께 상생하는 복합문화공간으로써 의미가 있음을 알 수 있다.

영어초록

Since the 2000s, the local art museums have dramatically increased in both quality and quantity as the consumption in cultural market has increased, and the local art museums are going through constant changes as they have been continuously competing with other various leisure facilities in order to attract more visitors. In addition to that, due to the modern society's open atmosphere and the audience, which are different from the past, the art museums' significance and the role have expanded, and the art museums started to form a close-relationship with the audience. As a result, the art museums need to variously strengthen their abilities by not only considering the internal contents like exhibitions or educational programs, but also the external factors like the affects of locational characteristics and infrastructure. Therefore, this research has analyzed how the museums' external elements such as the commercial area and locational factors(population·economic status, access characteristic, locational characteristic), which has been less valued than museum's internal elements, can influence in the number of art museums' visitors.
The results of the analysis are: Firstly, in population·economy factor, ‘per capita income’ has an attentive effect in art museum’s annual visitors. Secondly, in access property variable, ‘the number of metro stations’ and ‘the number of bus routes’ had been rejected. Thirdly, it has been analyzed that in commercial area and locational factors variables, ‘convenience facilities’ and ‘shopping facilities’ have high influence in the number of art museums' visitors. In the long run, the art museums cannot exist by themselves by only focusing on internal contents; but they must establish the infrastructure that go along with other various external facilities in order to become a meaningful cultural area.
