초등 사회과 4학년 지역화 교재 비교 분석 -전국 16개 시․도 교육청 편찬 자료를 중심으로- (A Comparative Analysis of Localized Textbooks for 4th graders in Elementary Social Studies -Focusing on the educational materials made by education offices of 16 city and province-)

초록

본 연구는 전국 16개 시·도에서 편찬한 2015 개정 초등 사회과 4학년 지역화 교재를 비교 분석함으로써 현행 지역화 교재의 특징을 파악하고 개선 방향을 논의하는 데 목적이 있다. 교재의 외형 체제 분석 기준으로는 교재 이름, 표지, 단원별 분량을, 내적 체제의 분석 기준으로는 단원 및 주제 이름과 세부 구조, 교재의 활용 유형을 설정하였다. 분석 결과, 교재 이름은 ‘○○의 생활’이라는 전통적인 명칭이 주류를 이루었지만, 일부에서는 다른 형태를 보였다. 교재의 표지는 지역을 상징하는 자연·인문 환경을 주로 삽화 형식으로 드러내고 있었고, 지역 간 교과서 분량의 편차가 4배가량 달했으며, 교육과정 성취기준에 ‘지역’이 명시된 부분에 해당하는 단원의 분량이 편중되는 경향이 있었다. 단원 및 주제 이름은 국정 사회 교과서의 이름이나 형식을 그대로 활용하고 있는 경우가 대다수였고, 지역화 교재의 단원 및 주제의 세부 구조는 단원 도입과 주제 학습으로만 구성된 경우가 과반수 이상이었다. 다만, 이러한 주된 흐름과 다르게 교육과정 성취기준을 중심으로 나름의 체계와 내용, 방법이 적용된 지역화 교재도 있었다. 결과적으로 지역화 교재는 국정 사회 교과서와 관계를 기준으로 종속형과 독립형으로 나눌 수 있었고, 각 유형에서도 강하고 약한 정도를 구분할 수 있었다. 향후 지역화 교재를 편찬할 때 유의할 점은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 교육과정 성취기준 중심으로 주제 학습 구조의 유형별 특성을 강화하여 지역화 교재를 편찬해야 한다. 둘째, 내용의 지역화를 넘어 방법의 지역화를 추구하는 지역화 교재가 되어야 한다. 셋째, 지역화 교재에 대한 적극적인 관심과 투자가 뒷받침되어야 한다.

영어초록

The purpose of this study is to identify the characteristics of the current localized textbooks and discuss improvement directions by comparing and analyzing the 2015 revised elementary social studies 4th grade textbooks published by 16 cities and provinces. The name of the textbook, the cover, and the amount of each unit were set as criteria for analyzing the external system of the textbook, and the unit and subject name and detailed structure, and the type of use of the textbook were set as criteria for analyzing the internal system. As a result of the analysis, the traditional name of the textbook '○○'s life' was the mainstream, but some showed different forms. The cover of the textbook mainly revealed natural or human environment of the region in illustration form, the deviation of textbook amount between regions was about four times, and the amount of units corresponding to the part where "regions" were specified in the curriculum standards tended to be biased. Most of the unit and subject names used the names or formats of nationwide social studies textbooks, and more than half of the detailed structures of the unit and subject were composed only of unit introduction and subject learning. However, unlike these main trends, there were also localized textbooks to which their own systems, contents, and methods were applied, focusing on the curriculum standards. As a result, localized textbooks could be divided into dependent and independent types based on the relationship between nationwide social textbooks, and the degree of strength and weakness could be distinguished from each type. The following points to note when compiling localized textbooks in the future are as follows. First, localized textbooks should be compiled by strengthening the characteristics of each type of subject learning structure, focusing on the curriculum achievement standards. Second, it should be a localized textbook that pursues the localization of the method beyond the localization of the content. Third, active interest and support for localized textbooks should be supported.
