강지역 주민의 의식구조적 특성 및 원형(archetype) — 홍천강 지역을 중심으로 — (The Characteristics of Consciousness structure and Archetype of Inhabitants of the River Area)

초록

본고에서는 홍천강 지역 생활권 주민들의 민속, 민간신앙, 설화 속에 풍요적 측면이 어떻게 투영되고 있으며, 어떤 방식으로 추출되는지 살펴보고자 했다. 연역적 방식을 통해 결과를 추출하고, 이 결과는 또 어떻게 그 원인에 영향을 주는지 쌍방향적인 측면까지도 살펴보고자 했다. 그 결과는 다음과 같다.
홍천강 지역민들이 대보름날 행했던 민속 중에는 ‘어부슴’이 상당히 성행했었고, 비록 소수이지만 지금도 행하고 있음을 알 수 있었다. 물가에서 여성에 의해 주로 행해지고 있었다. 또한 달을 보면서 기원하는 달맞이는 동네마다 집집마다 했다는 것을 알 수 있었는데 역시 물가에서 주로 하고 있었다. 기우제의 경우도 마을마다 조금씩 그 양식이나 형식 등이 달랐지만 ‘여자’가 주체가 되어 ‘물’에 가서 한다는 점에서는 동일했다. ‘민간신앙’도 산신이 일색이 아니라 다양한 형태로 이루어졌었거나 이루어지고 있었고, 무엇보다도 산간지역 민간신앙의 특색이었던 ‘권대감’ 신앙과 비견되는 팔봉강가의 ‘팔봉산 삼여신’이 부각되고 있었다. 설화는 채록된 것이 별로 없지만 그래도 다른 지역에 비해 물과 여자와 관련된 설화가 소수 채록되었다. 이렇듯이 강지역민들의 민속행위는 상당히 많은 부분이 ‘달’과 ‘물’과 ‘여인’과 밀접한 관례를 보이는 것으로 수렴되었다. 달과 물은 농사짓는데 필요 불가결한 존재들이라는 점에서 이는 곧 풍년, 즉 풍요와 관련이 되고, 여성은 생산력의 주체라는 점에서, 달은 끊임없이 재생한다는 특성을 지녔다는 점(생생력의 원천)에서도 동일시되었음을 밝힐 수 있었다. 세계적으로 풍요를 기원하는 초기 제의에서는 ‘농사’와 관련된 사물들이 주로 숭배의 대상이 되었다는 점을 상기할 때, 홍천 강 지역의 경우도 동일한 결과를 보인다고 결론내릴 수 있었다. 이렇듯이 강지역 주민들은 본인들도 의식하지 못한 채 인류의 오래된 아키타입 중 하나인 풍요 원리에 기반을 한 여러 가지 의례나 행사를 하면서 풍요의 원리를 끊임없이 재생하는 삶을 영위하고 있었다.
또한 실제적으로 강변지역 지역민들은 다른 지역보다 큰 부침이 없이 평온하게 살았다는 것을 알 수 있었으며, 실제로 배고픈 시절이 산간지역민보다 훨씬 덜 했다는 것을 알 수 있었다. 이러한 요인은 강이 주는 생산적 측면이 작용했기 때문이라는 것도 확인할 수 있었다. 이렇듯이 강변지역의 지역민들은 집단무의식이나 실제적인 삶의 측면에서도 다른 지역보다는 ‘풍요성’이 근저를 이룬다고 할 수 있었다.

영어초록

This paper is an attempt to study how the aspects of richness are reflected and what results are produced in folklore, folk belief and narratives of inhabitants living in the area of the Hongchun River. The results of this study are produced through. And also the results of this study which are produced through the deductive method are examined how their results influence the causes including interrelatedness between the cause and the result. The results are as follows.
The inhabitants in the Hongchun River have performed Abusum prevailing considerably among folklore performed on fifteenth day of the lunar month. In spite of a small number of people, it has been performed by them at the every door and at the every village until now. It is also known that Dalmajy, viewing the first full moon, has been also performed by women at the edge of the water. Giwoje, a ritual for rain, was different informs styles a bit with villages, but There has been similar a result that the women as the main agents, go to the waterside for ritual ceremonies.
The falk belief consisted and has consisted of belief in not just the god of a mountain but also varied types of gods. Above all, Palbonsanyeosansin, the goddess in Palbon Mountain was being magnified comparing with Kwandeagam belief which was filled with the characteristics of mountainous territory in falk belief.
There are a few narratives recorded which are water-related and woman- related narratives compared to other areas. It is concluded that the moon, water, and women are closely interrelated in many ways. It could be clarified that the moon and water which are necessary to do farming for a good harvest related to the fertility, women who are agents of the productive forces, and the moon which constantly regenerates itself as the source of the productive forces.
Like this, it could be concluded the same result in the area of Hongchen River when it is considered that things related to farming at the primordial ceremony for the fertility are usually objects of veneration worldwidely. Being unaware of what’s going on, the residents in the region of rivers have lived regenerating the principle of fertility by performing many kinds of rituals or ceremony, that are one of the oldest archetypes in the human.
Also, it is practically known that the residents at the edge of the water have lived better in peace without ups and downs than any other region. They have had less hard time of hunger than the residents at the mountain village. The result could be verified the function of productive aspects. And It could be based upon the fertility in which inhabitants living in the area of the rivers have lived in more affluent lifes than any of other locations in terms of collective unconsciousness and practical life.
