한·몽 수교 20년간 음악문화 교류 (Music Cultural Exchange between Korea and Mongolia over the Last 2 Decades)

초록

본 연구는 한국과 몽골의 수교 20주년을 기념하여, 과거 일 천년전 그리고 현재, 수교이후 20년간의 음악 문화 교류 현황을 검토한 것이다.
첫째, 일 천년전 한국과 몽골의 음악문화의 교류를 음악사학적 측면에서 검토 하였다. 고대로부터 전하는 몽골의 제사가인 <한 우라싼 쏭(汗·乌拉山 颂)>과 한국민요 <도라지>의 음악적 유사성에 대하여, 같은 민족의 노래가 역사적 시간의 흐름 속에서 변형되어 계승된 점을 주목하게 된다. 또한, 원과 고려의 국가적 음악문화 교류를 통해 고려의 집단 가무인 <징지리(井即梨)>, 타악기인 장구를 치며 추는 고려의 춤 <장고무(杖鼓舞)> 혹은 <편고무(鞭鼓舞)>, 고려가요 <동동가(動動歌)>가 원 나라에서 유행했음을 알 수 있다.
나아가 몽골의 야탁, 한국의 가야금과 같은 종류의 악기들을 보다 확대하여 음악사(音樂史)적으로 연구할 필요성이 있다. 이러한 연구는 양국의 음악학자들이 함께 연구할 과제일 것이다.
둘째, 수교이후 한국내 몽골음악 연구 현황이다. 한국은 몽골과 수교이후, 몽골음악학 연구는 전반기 10년 동안 권오성에 의해 조사 및 발굴 연구되어 왔으며, 이후 10년은 그의 제자인 본인에 의해 연구되고 있다. 연구초기에는 주로 몽골음악 전반을 소개한 것이고, 이후의 연구는 한국과 몽골의 음악문화를 비교한 것이 대부분이다.
앞으로 몽골음악학의 풍성한 발전을 위하여 국내 동학(同學)들이 다수 배출되기를 기대한다. 하나의 비전을 본다면, 소중한 몽골음악학의 인재들이 한국으로 유학 중이거나, 유학을 예정하고 있어 향후 국내 몽골음악학에 또 하나의 가능성을 예측해 본다.
셋째, 수교이후 한국내 몽골음악 활동의 주요 쟁점이다. 몽골의 음악가들은 수교 초기, 경기도 남양주에 조성된 ‘몽골문화촌’에서 몽골전통음악을 공연하여, 몽골전통음악을 한국인에게 소개했다. 이후 2000년대부터 한국 음악학자들은 아시아권의 음악문화에 대한 관심이 높아졌다. 이에 몽골의 명인 음악가들이 초청되어 몽골전통음악의 정수를 알리기 시작했다. 이로 인하여 몽골음악에 대한 관심이 급상승하게 되었으며, 젊은 몽골 연주자들의 한국내 활약이 왕성해졌다. 아울러 한국에 유학 온 몽골음악가들은 실내악 단체를 결성하고, 아시아권의 음악가들과 한국 내에서 공동으로 세계를 향한 음악적 도약을 추구하고 있다.
이상과 같이 지난날 거대한 역사 속에 묻어둔 근원은 양국의 음악문화 저변에서 살아 숨 쉬고 있다. 때문에 앞으로 한국과 몽골 음악학자들의 보다 적극적인 공동연구가 추진되기를 기대한다.

영어초록

The purpose of this study is to examine realities in bilateral exchanges of musical culture between Korea and Mongol deep in the past (about 1 thousand years ago) and over last 20 years of friendly relationships between two countries after their bilateral treaty of amity.
First, this study took an approach of East Asian musical history to investigating such bilateral exchanges of musical culture as made between Korea and Mongol about 1 thousand years ago. It focused on the musical similarity of “Doraji”, a Korean traditional folk song to “Han Urassan Ssong(汗·乌拉山 颂)”, a Mongol traditional ritual song originated from the ancient days. Here, it was found that one song of a nation has been modified and inherited into two kinds in a stream of historical time. In addition, it was found that “Jingjiri(井即梨, a collective singing and dancing popularized in the Koryeo Dynasty)”, “Jang-gomu(杖鼓舞) or Pyeon-gomu(鞭鼓舞, a dynamic dancing accompanied with percussion like Jang-gu)” and “Dongdong-ga(動動歌, a popularized ballad of Koryeo Dynasty)” were all popularized among peoples in Mongol owing to international exchanges of musical culture between Koryeo and Mongol.
However, this study suggested that it would be necessary for follow- up studies to extend their scope of investigation into other instruments like Mongol's Jatag and Korea's Gayageum from the perspective of bilateral musical history for comparison. And these studies will possibly involve the musical scholars in Korea and Mongol.
Secondly, this study discussed a history of existing investigations into Mongol traditional music in Korean academic world after bilateral treaty of amity between Korea and Mongol. After the treaty of amity between two countries, it is Kwon Oh-seong that played his leading role in investigating and discovering academic aspects of Mongol traditional music over the first decade, but the author of this paper - as the disciple of Kwon - has focused upon investigating them over the next decade till now. Their early studies focused primarily on introducing general aspects of Mongol traditional music, and their follow-up studies focused mostly on comparison of musical culture between Korea and Mongol.
It is expected that many Korean companions, apart from the author of this paper, will be fostered for prosperous development of domestic investigations into Mongol traditional music in the future. As a part of the vision, for instance, many precious Mongol talents are studying or plan to study Mongol traditional music in Korean universities, so it is expected that they will be another possibility of Mongol traditional music studies in Korea.
Thirdly, this study focused on major issues in Mongol traditional music activities in Korea after the treaty of amity between two countries. In the early bilateral friendship after the treaty, Mongol traditional musical artists performed their national traditional music at ‘Mongol Cultural Town’ established in Namyangju, Gyeonggi province to introduce it - as a kind of strange and exotic music - to Korean people. And Korean traditional music specialists have been more interested in Asian music since 2000. That is why reputed Mongol traditional music masters have been invited by Korean academic world to propagate the choice of Mongol traditional music into Korea. Then, there have been rapidly increasing interests in Mongol traditional music among Korean people, and the young generation of Mongol traditional music performers has begun to energetically roll out their performance activities in Korea. Moreover, Mongol musicians studying in Korea form their own traditional chamber music groups, and collaborate with Asian traditional musicians in Korea to pursue a leap of musical propagation from Asia into the world.
Summing up, the essential source hidden in a vast depth of history is alive in the very foundation of bilateral musical culture between Korea and Mongol. That is why it is hopefully expected that traditional musicologists of Korea and Mongol will play a leading role in more positively promoting collaborative researches into bilateral traditional music.
