초록

<Wonbyeolgara> is a rather long gasa with 546 verses in total. The writer, who lived in Sadong-ri, Giseong-myeon, Uljin-gun, is a daughter-in-law of Hwang's family whose origin is Pyeonghae. The writer is a member of the people who collectively moved to Manchuria with the influence of Hwang, Manyeong, who fought for the independence of Korea. The refugees built a new Korean town and attempted to find a chance to recover the national sovereignty by bringing about an independence war. It is estimated that the work was written in 1916 and the writer was in her late 20's. <Wonbyeolgara> used the gasa products in <Wonbyeolga>, <Sachinga> and <Sahyangga> category as its basic frame, and thus the whole writing is cast over with lamenting delineation of feeling. Also, narrative writing that reflects one's life including her childhood, marriage, departure from her hometown, odyssey in seeking exile in Manchuria and the life in Manchuria. Conversations in colloquial style are narrated here and there in the writing using the prose style of a novel. Meanwhile, a patriotic (independence) enlightenment writing style often appears in the latter part of the writing. As a result, <Wonbyeolgara> was written in composite forms with the use of the diverse styles of description of feeling, narration and enlightenment. The writer was an ordinary woman who got married at age 16. Then, the Japanese annexation of Korea and her taking refuge in Manchuria became a turning point for her life. She grew a spirit of resistance and fight while she went to Manchuria after disposing of all her family property. Thus, after she arrived in Manchuria, she became a fighter for the independence of Korea dreaming of a promising future of her motherland. Living in an army base for national independence, she made solid her identity as a main body for the movement for national independence. Most of all, the significance of <Wonbyeolgara> in the history of gasa is that it was a gasa written by a woman who took refuge in Manchuria during the early stage of the forcible occupation of Korea by Japan. This product shows the reason for and process of the exile, the odyssey of the exile, and the livelihood in Manchuria. The significance of the product in the history of gasa literature is that it shows the typical and universal writing style of Gyubang gasa that uses description of feeling, narration and enlightenment in mixture.
