이 글은 남북문학예술연구회가 펴낸 『전쟁과 북한 문학예술의 행방』 및 『전후 북한 문학예술의 미적 토대와 문화적 재편』에 대한 서평으로 작성된다. 먼저 『전쟁과 북한 문학예술의 행방』이다. 논자들은 ‘매체론적 입장’에서 전쟁과 혁명을 통한 북한 사회주의 건설의 형상과 흐름이 어떻게 이뤄지고 있는가를 실사구시의 입장에서 비판적으로 통찰한다. 연구대상은 전쟁과 혁명에 관련된 시와 소설, 전장과 후방에 두루 뿌려진 삐라, 전투심과 애국심, 그리고 적개심을 고취하는 문화공작대 및 화선(火線)음악대, 미군의 무차별적 폭격과 비인간적인 세균전 등을 포괄한다. 이 논고들의 특징은 1차 자료와 다양한 텍스트에 근거하여 북한의 한국전쟁 당시와 전후 복구기의 생활과 이념, 문화예술을 입체적으로 그려낸다는 것이다. 또한 전쟁에서의 승리와 종전 후 사회주의 혁명을 위한 북한 인민과 인민병사들의 고상한 애국주의와 희생정신, 북한을 도운 소련과 중국의 국제주의가 어떻게 펼쳐지는가도 객관적으로 검토한다. 다음으로 『전후 북한 문학예술의 미적 토대와 문화적 재편』이다. 이 책의 핵심어는 ‘사회주의 리얼리즘’과 ‘공산주의의 전망’이다. 논자들은 전쟁 후 KAPF계열 및 남로당계 문인들의 숙청 과정과 그 까닭을 집중적으로 파헤친다. 주된 방법은 문학잡지의 향방을 밝히는 한편 해당 작가들의 작품에 대한 부정적 평가와 삭제의 원인을 구명하는 것이다. 또한 공산주의 전망 문제를 여성의 교양과 전쟁고아 양육 문제, 음악계의 탁성 제거 및 시인 백석의 문학과 숙청 상황을 통해 조망한다. 사회주의아래의 아동문학과 과학소설의 발전에도 눈길을 돌리지만, 역시 결정적인 것은 김일성의 항일무장투쟁에 대한 혁명 전통화, 그에 따른 항일 문예의 탄생과 정착 과정을 구체적인 작품과 수기 등을 통해 밝힌 것이다.

This article is drafted as the critique on War and Scheme of Literary Art of North Korea and Aesthetic Foundation and Cultural Re-organization of Literary Art of North Korea after the War that are published by ‘ South and North Korean Literature & Arts Research Society’. First is the earlier mentioned book. The theorists contemplate critically on how formation and flow of socialism construction of North Korea through war and revolution in the aspect of the ‘media perspective’ under the position of search for truth based on facts. Subject of study embraces the poetry and novels related to war and revolution, leaflets scattered around the front and rear base, ‘Cultural Maneuvering Unit’ and ‘Battle line Music Unit’ that enhances the mind set for combat, patriotism and hatred against enemy, indiscrete bombing of the US military, inhumane biological warfare and others. The characteristics of these articles show the dimensional display of the life style, ideologies, literary art of North Korea during the Korean War and the recovery period before and after the War based on the primary data and various texts. In addition, they objectively review on noble patriotism and spirit of sacrifice of people and soldiers of North Korea for the socialist revolution with the victory in the War and how the internationalism of the Soviet and China that allied with North Korea in the War has taken the place thereafter. Next is the second book. The keywords of this book are ‘socialist realism’ and ‘Prospect of Communism’. The theorists focused on displaying the process of purge of the KAPF lines and Namrodang (South Chosen Labor Party) following literature men after the War and the reasons behind it. The main method is to display the scheme of the literacy journals and clarify the adverse evaluation and cause of deletion on the works of applicable writers. In addition, the issues involving the prospect of communism’ are viewed through the issues of feminine culture and nurturing of war orphans, removal of coarse voice in the music industry, and literature of poet Baek Seok and the purge status. The attention is given to the development of childhood literature and scientific novels under the socialism, but the critical aspect is to display the process of birth and settlement of revolution tradition on anti-Japan armed struggle by Kim, Il-sung, and ensuing anti-Japan literature through detailed works, memoirs and the like.
