청소년의 적응유연성과 긍정적 발달의 통합모형개발에 관한 연구

초록

본 연구의 주된 목적은 청소년의 적응유연성과 긍정적 발달을 설명할 수 있는 변인들의 구조적 인과 관계를 확인하고, 모형의 적합도를 확인함으로써 최적의 모형을 경험적으로 확인하는 데 있다. 이를 위해 가정된 잠재변인들은 스트레스, 생태학적 발달자산, 개인적 강점, 적응유연성, 긍정적 발달이다. 조사대상자는 대구광역시에 거주하는 청소년들로 표집된 총895명이며, 조사방법은 질문지를 사용하였다. 수집된 자료는 SPSS 18.0 통계 프로그램과 Amos 18.0을 통하여 자료를 분석하였다. 연구모형에 포함된 측정변인들이 잠재변인들을 얼마나 잘 반영하고 있는지를 확인하기 위하여 확인적 요인분석을 실시하였으며, 구조방정식모형 분석을 통해 모형의 적합도를 확인하고, 변인들 간의 영향력을 확인하기 위하여 구조 경로계수를 확인하였으며, 매개효과가 통계적으로 유의미한지를 확인하기 위하여 부트스트랩 방법을 적용하였다. 연구 결과, 첫째, 청소년이 지각한 스트레스와 적응유연성과의 관계에서 생태학적 발달자산과 개인적 강점은 스트레스의 부정적인 영향을 매개하는 요인으로 작용하였다. 둘째, 생태학적 발달자산과 개인적 강점 변인은 긍정적 발달을 촉진시키는 것으로 나타났다. 셋째, 통합모형은 적응유연성과 긍정적 발달을 설명할 수 있는 최적의 모형으로 확인되었다. 이는 생태학적 발달자산과 개인적 강점 변인은 긍정적 발달과 적응유연성 모두에 긍정적인 영향을 미치는 요인임을 알 수 있으며, 또한 스트레스와 적응유연성 및 긍정적 발달과의 관계에서 생태학적 발달자산과 개인적 강점 변인이 스트레스의 부정적 영향을 매개하고 있음을 알 수 있다. 이와 같은 결과는 청소년들의 부모, 친구, 교사, 지역사회 성인들과 같은 의미있는 타인들과의 상호작용과 개인이 가지고 있는 강점이라고 할 수 있는 자기 효능감, 적극적 대처 전략이 적응유연성을 향상시키고, 긍정적 발달을 촉진시킬 수 있음을 보여준다. 그러나 이러한 보호요인과 발달자산을 가지고 있더라도 스트레스와 같은 강력한 위험요인의 부정적 영향력을 최소화 할 수 없다면, 청소년이 성인기로의 성공적인 이행에 어려움을 겪을 수 있다. 따라서 위험요인의 부정적인 영향력을 감소시키는 다양한 접근 방법들을 모색해야할 뿐만 아니라, 보호요인과 발달자산을 강화시켜나가는 통합적인 접근이 동시에 이루어져야 할 것이다. 마지막으로 본 연구의 제한점과 후속연구를 위한 제언을 제시하였다.

영어초록

The purpose of this study is to identify the optimal structural equation model to describe the resilience and positive development of adolescents empirically by identifying the structural causality between variables and assess the suitability of the model. Stress, ecological development assets, individual strength, resilience, and positive development were assumed to be potential variables for this study. A total of 895 adolescents in Daegu were studied for the study using questionnaires. The collected data was analyzed using the statistical software of SPSS 18.0 and Amos 18.0. The confirmatory factor analysis is conducted to identify whether the measurement variables included in the study model effectively reflect the potential variables in order to verify the study assumptions. The suitability of model was reviewed through the analysis of structural equation model while the structural path coefficients were examined to assess the inter-variable effects. Bootstrap method has applied to find out whether the mediating effect was statistically significant. The following results were obtained from this study. First, ecological development assets and individual strength act as mediating factors to help alleviate the negative impacts of stress recognized by adolescents in the correlation between stress and resilience. Second, ecological development assets and individual strength factors help spur the positive development of adolescents. Third, the integrated model is the optimal solution to describe resilience and positive development. This suggests that ecological development assets and individual strength variables have positive influences on positive development and resilience and they also act as mediating factors to help alleviate the negative impacts of stress in the relationships among stress, resilience, and positive development. The results stated above suggest that the resilience of adolescents can be enhanced and their positive development can be promoted by interactions with significant persons such as parents, friends, teachers, and adults in local communities, self-efficacy, and positive coping strategy. However, adolescents may face difficulties in developing into adults successfully if they fail to minimize negative effects of powerful risk factors such as stress despite such protective factors and development assets. Therefore, a variety of measures must be taken to alleviate the negative effects of risk factors and reinforce protective factors and development assets as well. Finally, limitations of this study and suggestions for follow-up research are presented.
