Abstract

초록

본 논문에서 필자는 교육학의 새로운 패러다임을 제시하려는 목적을 갖고 교육학의 새로운 언어와 논리가 무엇인지 탐색하려한다. 이는 교육학의 재개념화로서 이제 까지 당연시되던 기본 전제에 의문을 던지는데서 시작한다. 이를 위해 본 논문은 마음(인간)에 대한 기존의 전통적 발달 이론에 잠재된 오류를 확인하고 최근에 강력한 영향력을 갖고 등장한 마음의 컴퓨터 메타포에서 나타난 문제를 검토하였다. 이러한 오류의 원천은 금세기 후반의 학문적 인식 패러다임의 혁명적 전환에 기인한 학문적 언어의 적절성의 문제를 지적하였다. 그리고 이에 대한 대안으로서 마음의 본질을 의미 구성으로 보는 내러티브를 교육학의 새로운 지표로 제시하였다. 내러티브로서 자아는 인식론적 관점에서 본 자아로서 패러다임의 전환을 뜻한다. 지금까지 우리가 존재론적 자아를 탐구해 왔다면 이제는 인식론적 관점에서 자아를 보아야 한다. 자아의 새로운 모형으로 내러티브를 제시함으로서 존재론적 한계를 벗어나 새로운 지평을 열 수 있다고 보기 때문이다.

영어초록

This paper begins with the assumption that the traditional views on human mind are problematic. The traditional views, which have been identified as the developmental theories in this paper are Freudian, Piagetian, and Vygotskian views on human mind. Their views have been dominant ones on the children’s minds. However, recently those views have been thought to be very problematic. Bruner has identified four principal tenets as the fundamental resources of fallacy: Egocentric perspective, Privacy, Unmediated conceptualism, Tripartism. This paper criticizes the presumptions the traditional views seem to imply and tries to propose an alternative.
The purpose of this paper is to examine the fallacy the dominant views show in relation to the concept of children’s mind and to propse a new paradigm on education area. With the purpose, the paper is constructed as follows. Chapter Ⅱ identifies hidden fallacies imbedded in the traditional developmental theories and examines computer metaphor recently represented as a new view on human mind. Chapter Ⅲ deals with the mode of narrative thought introduced by Bruner(1986) and examines what the narrative is about, how the narrative makes meanings, what characteristics the narrative shows, and what implications the narrative gives. Chapter Ⅳ proposes the narrataive as a new paradigms on education. Finally the Chapter Ⅴ discusses pedagogy’s academic identity and suggests some educative implications in relation to narrative and schooling.
In this paper, three implications are suggested as follows. The first holds that our schools should improve children’s narrative sensibility through the narrative arts such as, so called three great P’s, which means human Past, Present, and Possible/the subjects of history, social studies, and literature). The second holds that the interactive pedagogy should be emphasized in the classroom teaching. The interactive pedagogy recognizes children’s intersubjectivity, which means the human alblilty to understand the minds of others. And the third holds that the narrative mode of thought should be used with the support of the paradigmatic mode of thought. The paradigmatic thought is in no sense antithetical to the narrative. Scientific explanations are adjuncts to narrative interpretation and vice versa.
