초록

인간은 ‘문화적 존재’라는 점에서 다른 생명체와 구별된다. 인간만이 소유하고 있는 창조적 산물로써 사람들이 생활하면서 이룩한 모든 정신적 유산인 문화는 빠른 속도로 변화하고 있는 사회와 더불어 다양한 모습으로 나타나고 있다. 이렇게 변화하고 발전하는 사회․문화적인 환경을 반영하고 현재와 미래를 살아가는 학생들의 문화 수용 형태 및 의식에 부응하기 위해서 초등학교 교육과정은 지금까지 7차에 걸쳐 개정되었다. 7차 교육과정에서는 세계를 향한 한국인 육성을 위해 우리 문화에 대한 정체성을 확립하고 자긍심을 길러 이를 바탕으로 세계 문화에 대한 이해를 높이도록 하고 있다.
서예는 학생의 인격과 품성의 도야에 기여할 수 있어 몸과 마음을 조화롭게 발달시킬 수 있으며 우리 민족의 문화 정체성을 확립하는데 기여할 수 있다. 모든 교육의 기초교육이 되는 초등교육에서 서예 교육을 통해 우리 고유의 민족 문화에 대한 자긍심과 한국적 미의식을 심어주어야 한다. 그러나 생활모습과 사고방식이 서구화되고 컴퓨터의 등장으로 인하여 점점 글씨를 써 볼 기회가 줄어드는 오늘날의 문화 현상에서는 서예를 체험할 수 있는 기회는 점점 줄어들고 있는 실정이다. 또한 7차 초등학교 교육과정에서의 서예 영역은 변화하는 사회․문화적 요소와 학생들의 의식과 학습욕구를 따르고 있지 못하며 전통적인 서예의 개념에 따른 학습 방법에 의존하고 있다. 따라서 현장에서의 서예 교육은 교과서 서제를 임서하는 정도에 머물고 있으며 교사들은 대부분 서예 교육에 필요한 지식과 실기능력이 부족한 수준이다.

영어초록

The primary goal of the 7th Curriculum Amendment of the educational process is transforming students from Korean citizenships to Global citizenships equipped with self-enforced and self-initiated minds and self-respected and self-identified attitudes. Profound understanding of their own traditional cultures and civilizations could be the critical factors to meet the global citizenship standards.
Students could have a chance to enlarge their understanding of own traditional cultures through taking Calligraphy. Based on understanding their own traditional cultures, they can be capable to adopt and comprehend Global cultures. Calligraphy stresses the harmony, the balance, and the temperance of the energy between the body and the mind so it could help the students to be more balanced personal. Modern Calligraphy has, however, just depended on traditional training methodologies and it doesn‘t properly inflect rapidly changing and developing society and culture.
In traditional Calligraphy methodology, the students just carefully look at the writing patterns in the textbooks and repeatedly practice those patterns. After those stages, they learn and memorize meaning of the characters and words. The students, therefore, easily get tired of that very simple and repeated traditional Calligraphy. Even the teachers, who dont have professional Calligraphy knowledge, dont like to have Calligraphy. Those insufficiencies of the training methodologies and the lack of professionals have been obstacles to reform and grow Calligraphy Education.
Ive analyzed text books and instruction manuals for Calligraphy in the 7th Curriculum Amendment and found out some differences between the 7th and 6th. I suggest complements for the 8th Curriculum Amendment.
I have reviewed Instruction manuals for Calligraphy and I finalized below.
First, there should be many sorts of reference and impression materials on the Calligraphy text books. As modern calligraphy has been changed and developed, the modern calligraphy education needs to reflect the cultures, changed very fast way. We need to import some aspects from different kinds of arts such as paintings, designs, plastic arts, and industrial arts and add those new kinds of aspects on only penmanship, most established and traditional Calligraphy methodology. The students, therefore, could have chance to appreciate various kinds of penmanship than only traditional one.
Second, there should be various kinds of materials for instructor on Instructor manuals. The students could learn not only outcomes of calligraphy activity but processes of that. It is valuable experience for the students to watch processes of the activities. Most instructors and teachers in school, however, don‘t have ability to suggest some basic process or practical process to their students so the students can be instructed with audio-video materials and various calligraphy materials and tools on web sites and well designed instruction manuals. Throughout those processes, they can be experienced basic and practical process on calligraphy exercises.
The arts inflect the face of their generations. The Calligraphy should be comprised of form of current societies and cultures. Weve benefited penmanship and mental training from traditional Calligraphy. It is very important to have those benefits from Calligraphy. As our societies and cultures have been changed, the students tastes and claims have been changed more drastic way than those. The students could have benefits from the Calligraphy both Understanding the traditional culture and expressing themselves. As a character formative art, the calligraphy can be motivation for the students.
