Debate persists over whether it is effective or not to use pets to treat human mental illness. Recently, however, it has been revealed how pets can affect peoples' mental illness in detail, and doctors are using animal companions to treat mental illness. It can be seen that it is especially used for senile dementia and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).
First, what is senile dementia? Geriatric dementia is a major symptom of old age, which means mental degeneration (loss of intellectual capacity), a major characteristic of old age. Geriatric dementia is largely divided into two categories: Typical "atrophy" (Alzheimer's-type dementia) or "those due to vascular problems" (mainly, strokes). Among them, generally what people call senile dementia means Alzheimer's disease.
People beloved pets help improve peoples' physical and mental health. Living with pets helps people treat depression, relieve anxiety and reduce stress because humans love pets and share emotions.
