1. Preface
A social entrepreneurship is unlike the average commercial entrepreneurship. It is a business which is driven not by profit but for a social mission. In this assignment, we were required to get a hold of a social enterprise in order to see how a real business operates. After trying multiple places, we were able to get in touch with WeCan Cookies, a non-profit organization which utilizes mentally disabled workers as labor force to create high-quality organic cookies.
We were able to learn about the history of the company, what its social missions are, who is funding it, the impact that it has made, its business model, and how we can help with the cause. With the things we’ve learn so far throughout the course, we were able to understand with a better insight of what makes a social enterprise work.
This assignment not only helped us to understand the complexity and the mechanics of a social enterprise but why people start one.
