본문내용
It has been discussed that there were many contributing factors to the establishment of rapprochement between Sino-U.S relations. In 1979, the U.S, one of the super powers in international society, officially established simultaneous diplomatic relations with China which now has emerged as one of the great economic powers after 30 years of reform and open market policy. It was a historical event that has uncovered the Bamboo curtain of the People’s Republic of China and led it to carrying out open and reform policy. Most importantly the event has changed international order.
Factors to the rapprochement were brought up as follows; the chairman Mao Zedong’s fading status, security threats from adjacent countries as well as military standoff with Taiwan, and Deng Xiaoping’s desire that would enable China to merge into the main stream of economic globalization by opening its gate to the world etc.
However, most of international decisions often have been made and will be made for strategic reasons to maintain a balance of power rather than ideological or historical reasons.
