I’m going to talk about ‘Korean wave’. Have you ever heard about ‘Korean wave’?
‘Korean wave’ is phenomenon which has been spreading Korean culture such as soap opera,
K-pop, movie. This phenomenon was started in China, 1997. In the past, Chinese government failed to meet people’s needs of various culture. Under the ‘Soviet style communism Ideology’, there were so many constraints against ‘freedom of expression’. As soon as introduced open-policy in China, people thirsted to the culture. So, the government imported foreign culture, which was relatively diversified.
At that time, Korean culture, which was represented as soap opera, was very popular in China. Because it has well-harmonized culture. The soap opera showed them about Capitalism society in Korea as well as features of Korean traditional culture in related with
family, religion, hierarchy society.

This is our conclusion. I think China has various contents of cultural sector. But, the government are holding strict regulations against culture industry. And, so far, Japan cultural contents have been showing us its high quality, but it has been showing us also too commercial.
And, as mentioned above, Korea culture contents has been well harmonized, but nowadays many people are saying that it also too corny to
be interesting. Thus, in my opinion, Chinese culture should keep improving its quality, also need to be well harmonized with other culture
In order to appeal us, not to be deeply commercial, and government also should make its regulations less strict.
