경제사상사 중상주의
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
1. 역사적 배경
중상주의는 15세기 후반부터 국가사회가 대두하여 앞을 다투어서 부국강병책을 추구하면서 체계화되었다.

그런데 모든 학문이 그러하듯이 초기의 형성단계에서는 어느 한 개인이 확고한 체계를 세워서 학문으로 정립하기보다는 수많은 사람들이 여러 가지 지식이나 경험적 지혜를 세워서 학문으로 정립하기보다는 수많은 사람들이 여러 가지 지식이나 경험적 지혜를 단편적으로 발표하는 것이 보통이다. 경제학도 예외가 아니다. 그래서 초기 중상주의가 성립되었던 단계에는 확고한 중심인물이 없었고 전문적 경제학자가 없었다. 경제학을 연구하는 것을 생업으로 삼는 것은 그 당시 사회적 여건으로 보아서 도저히 불가능하였다. 따라서 대부분의 중상주의 학자들은 상인, 정치가, 관료, 또는 철학자 등 다양한 배경을 가진 사람들이었다. 그들은 주로 사회적 현상을 실제로 경험하면서 시정되어야 할 점이나 자기의 이해관계를 관철시키기 위해서 주장한 것들을 팜플렛과 책자로 발표하였다. 이러한 것들이 집합되어 오늘날 중상주의라고 불리우게 된 것이다.
